MJ Stewart Ghrist posted: I am later-in-life student waiting on the surgical technology program. ( I am #30 when 24 are taken for this Aug) I am an AST student member and enjoy learning about my new profession. I also see a lot of support on this page. I would appreciate any feedback on my questions. 1. I am thinking of transferring to a school with no waiting list. One smallish hospital that has been found guilty of Medicare fraud. The school is accredited as the one I am attending now. Does it matter where you go to school and/or do your clinicals? 2. Also if I wait I will be 56 when done. I am in excellent physical shape but concerned that my employment clock may be ticking. ( I have to work till 69 fyi.) I have been an insurance agent- all lines- for the last 15 years now help my mother take care of my dad (in end stage copd) while I go to school. I am now trying to decide whether to wait or transfer. I have gotten some input from a doctor and fellow students but would appreciate advice from those that know best. Thanks!
