MK DONS TO VISIT ZAMBIA? Third Tier English side MK Dons could visit Zambia. A bid is being launched by an undisclosed organisation that will bring the club to Zambia. MK Dons have gained instant fame after their 4-0 beating of Manchester United in the Capital One Cup Second Round. A source close to the bid disclosed We have been over the years planning to bring some top european sides to Zambia but the lack of Stadia affected the plans. The source added Over the last few years its become evident in the increase of interest in local football and one just needs to look around and you will spot Zesco, Zanaco, Power Dynamos and Napsa Stars replicas which wasnt the case 5 years ago, fans are thirsty for football and Now is the time to act and satisfy this passion. When asked why the bidders thought they could secure MK Dons the source said. Zambia is a great destination, we have had other English clubs in the past and interms of other Sports there have been English Rugby teams coming to compete in the Mosi Sevens which is always a good sign. The source also stated The plan is to bring MK Dons to Zambia next year in June/July when the Enlish season is off, currently we are still at the beginning stage and we have found that its within budget to bring in a side from the English third tier, we continue to move towards this goal so that us, our partners and fans will all share in the excitement that a match up between Nkana vs MK Dons or Power Dynamos vs MK Dons will bring. Zambia previously hosted many English clubs in the 60s to the 80s with Notts County, Aston Villa and many other clubs visiting. The last English Football to visit Zambia is not exactly known but dates indicate that it was in 1988 when Red Arrows had a freindly against a Second tier English Club.
