MK2 announces 2 new films shooting this winter: NOCTURNE AFGHAN (working title) by Atiq Rahimi and A SIMPLE MAN by Stéphane Brizé - NOCTURNE AFGHAN (working title) is the third film by multi-award winning French-Afghan director and writer Atiq Rahimi following The Patience Stone (2012; Most Promising Actress César for Golshifteh Farahani, released in 25 territories) and Earth and Ashes (2004, awarded in Un Certain Regard). The Patience Stone was adapted from Rahimi’s best-selling novel which won the Goncourt Prize (France’s most prestigious book award), sold more than 300 000 copies sold in France and was translated into more than 33 languages. NOCTURE AFGHAN (working title) will commence shooting in January 2015 in Paris. The film is produced by Marin, Elisha and Nathanaël Karmitz for MK Productions. MK2 handles all rights. Synopsis Nangui, a young Afghan about to apply for political asylum in France, discovers that his friend Achmed has left for London without a trace. For Nangui, this is catastrophic. Now, he will never see the money he had lent him, and that he needed to pay the smuggler bringing his younger brother in Paris that very evening. Nangui is now rushing around the city on a desperate hunt for money and will end after a series of unexpected encounters, a fair share of misunderstandings, and a budding love story. - A SIMPLE MAN starring Vincent Lindon is Stéphane Brizés sixth feature length film, after Mademoiselle Chambon (25 international theatrical releases, César for Best Screenplay). The film produced by Nord-Ouest Films (Christophe Rossignon and Philip Boeffard) is being shot this month in the outskirts of Paris. MK2 will be representing the film internationally. Synopsis Laurent starts a new job as a security guard in a supermarket. He soon finds himself faced with a moral dilemma when he is asked to spy on his colleagues.
