MLA: Hon. John Rustad Good evening sir I have just moved into your riding and just became a teacher for school district 91 this past Friday. As you could imagine I am very eager to get back to work after so much time off. I have stayed optimistic throughout the entire labor dispute thus far. This weekends mediation sessions have really shaken that optimism. The BCTF has reduced their package by 125 million and the employer has not so much as made a token move. They clearly want to wait us out- until due to financial pressure we are begging to go back to work. This is simply a case of mishandling of power. You belong to the party that is empowering our employer to ignore court rulings and bargain in bad faith, holding conditions on the process that make good faith bargaining impossible. I have never met you, but must assume you are a reasonable man who cares for his constituents or you would not have chosen your profession. Teachers and politicians have a lot in common. You work for your constituents, without us you have no purpose, while teachers work for their students and without them we have no purpose. Step into our shoes and imagine your employer was acting and treating you the way ours is treating us, how would you respond? Sincerely Lorn Rae Kennedy
