MM: How have we, the citizens, contributed to the Nigerian problem? SK: Well, I will say this without apology because I am a citizen before I am an aspirant. We have failed abysmally. Not only have we failed to elect good leaders, we have failed to push the elected leaders to deliver. We have failed to encourage the younger generation of citizens to step into the political space and really show up. We have failed to be our brothers’ keepers. “Every man for himself Nigeria Ltd.” is what we have created. No country can develop rapidly in this current climate. Have you witnessed the way we view corruption in Nigeria?? Once an uncle or friend or political associate is accused, we usually jump to their defense. If it is an opponent, we pronounce them guilty. Is it not scary that a public official whose salary is N2m a year will launch a manhunt with public law enforcement in search for a staff of his who he is accusing of N1bn from his bedroom??
