MOAFPHIL Press Corps officers sworn in By Gideon C. Corgue TANGUB CITY, Misamis Ocidental, Oct. 27 (PIA) – The newly elected officers of the Misamis Occidental AFP-PNP (MOAFPHIL) Press Corps took their oath before 101st Brigade commander BGen. Apolinario Alobba on Wednesday (October 22) at the City Hall’s function room here. President Ellena Pelare, a veteran broadcaster of Lumad Misamisnon channel, heads the new set of officers. Other officers are Teddy Alquizar of the Community Broadcast Network - vice president for external affairs, Darwin Aguirre of the Times Broadcasting Network (dxSY)- vice president for internal affairs, Betser Dablo of Radyo ng Bayan – secretary, Manuel Orquillo of dxDD-FM – treasurer, Leoncio Medallo of Lumad Misamisnon Channel- auditor, and Al Daguman Nao – PRO. Members of the board are Neptalie Batolenio of dxDD and Mindanao Monitor, Jun Datolayta of dxDD, Adonie Decena of Lumad Misamisnon Channel, and Philip James Tremedal of Mindanao Daily News. In her message, Pelare said she was grateful that for the first time in her 20 years in her media career, the group was finally organized. Pelare underscored the importance of the creation of MOAFPHIL saying “the partnership of media, AFPD and PNP will pave the way for the attainment of lasting peace.” “Pinaagi sa MOAPFHIL Press Corps mapahibalo namo sa katawhan kung unsa ang mga programa ug kalihokan nga gihimo sa AFP ug PNP aron maangkon nato ang kalinaw,” Pelare stressed. (Through the MOAFPHIL Press Corps we can inform the public on the programs and activities conducted by the AFP and PNP to achieve peace.) Meanwhile, Governor Herminia Ramiro, represented by the provincial legal officer, expressed her felicitations to the newly elected officers. “With the partnership of media, AFP, PNP and local government unit, I am confident that it will create good impact to the people,” said Ramiro. Gen. Alobba, on the other hand, said: “Your organization would serve as example that democracy is functioning very well in the Philippines. I hope that you continue to perform your role in giving factual, fair and professional news to the public,” the local chief executive added.” Mayor Philip Tan also extended his full support to the organization and recognized the important role of media in our society. Tan told the officers to focus on development issues rather than highlighting the mistakes of AFP and PNP only. “I hope that MOAFPHIL will be a development-oriented organization,” Tan concluded.
