MOCHUDI POLICE APPEAL FOR HELP Mochudi police are appealing for assistance to arrest people who allegedly stole two vehicles at Boseja ward in Mochudi and a man who allegedly raped a 34-year old woman at Makakatlela ward. In an interview, Superintendent Olebile Sitale of Mochudi said a 43-year old woman of Boseja ward lost her white corolla sedan with two cell phones to thieves who allegedly followed her from Gaborone. Supt Sitale said the investigations had revealed that the woman was about to open the gate to her home when the culprits pounced on her. The police officer said the woman at one point suspected the car to have been following her from Gaborone but seemed to have neglected the issue only to realise when it was too late when the thieves packed behind her at her place and quickly snatched the keys and ran away with her car. Supt Sitale said the woman was not harmed and he advised drivers to be always cautious when driving and if they suspect any car to be following them, they should call the police or go straight to the nearest police for assistance. In another incident, thieves allegedly stole a Subaru legacy vehicle still at Boseja ward in Mochudi but the vehicle was later found abandoned after the suspects encountered an accident. Supt Sitale said the owner said he had packed his car in the evening only to find it gone in the morning. He advised car owners to arm their vehicles with alarms or use immobilisers to make it difficult for their vehicles to be easy targets to robbers especially during holidays. Supt Sitale asked Batswana to assist them find a man who raped a 34-year old woman of Makakatlela ward on December 12 after finding entry into her house through a window. “The culprit is still at large and we are saddened by such inhumane incidents which continue to destroy the lives of Batswana especially women, “he said. In yet another incident, which occurred on Friday at Pilane traffic lights, a 42-year old man is lying critical at Gaborone Private Hospital after he lost control of the vehicle he was driving and it overturned. The passenger was treated for minor injuries and discharged. (BOPA)
