MODI HAS TURNED INDIA IN TO A MAGNET During 2014 thus far India has received foreign portfolio investment (FPI) of close to US$ 40 billion; of this, US$ 24 billion in debt – mostly government debt – and US$ 16 billion in equity. This has already exceeded record high of US$ 39 billion brought in 2010 and still a month to go. At this pace, we may be touching US$ 45 billion. Then, 3/4th of money came in equity but now 60% is in debt. This is a resounding endorsement of Modi’s success in resurrecting credibility of governance in India besides imparting momentum to economic reforms. Dominic Barton, CEO McKinsey remark ‘he has turned India in to a magnet’ is very apt & timely.
