MOM of 266th Chapter meeting of Toastmasters Club of Pune held on 31st May, 2014. Our District Trio, in one of the articles published in Goa newspaper, mentioned the need of politicians taking assistance from Toastmasters in becoming good leaders”. This was very evident by the spirit of each of 26 members and 11 guests who are all on one journey, a journey of making excellence a habit and trying to be better than what they were a second before they entered the resourceful “Rockies” room of BMC Software. The theme of the meeting was, “Reimagining India”. One of the way we can have a new India is by taking risk. So I thought of taking a risk today by presenting MOM in a different way. Let us see how the 266th meeting of TMCP took us closer to “New and better India”: 1) SAA Sarthak Kumar showed us the importance of punctuality by starting the meeting sharp at 5 PM. He diligently explained the rules and regulation of meeting, explained the feedback sheets and agenda sheets to the guests and made them feel welcomed. The value of punctuality can take the nation to the next level. TM Sarthak Kumar exhibited one more quality of “stretching oneself” by taking up another role of “Ah counter”. And not to forget that he made sure that rules are same for everyone. Once the General evaluator was little late in entering, dedicated Sarthak didn’t allow him to enter till the time the person on the lantern didn’t finish speaking. 2) The TMOD TM Shashank Tiwari made the meeting a “thoughtful meeting” as by choosing this theme, he made everyone think about things which are of national importance and in a way showed that one need to think beyond themselves if they want to see changes around them. He showed immense sincerity in planning and conducting the whole event. 3) The acting President TM Azharuddin Khadri made us think on “Reimagining Toastmasters” by doing our part. If we cannot pay back the person who helped us join the movement, we can and should pay forward by inviting more friends, relatives and colleagues to join the movement. We have a very dedicated TM Poonam Rathod who is taking this initiative to more and more people. Let us be a part of that movement and create more awareness about something which has made us more, “Self-Aware”. 4) Our speakers were also on the mission of how we all can bring changes and make India a force to reckon with. By sharing their stories or personal experiences or thoughts they proved that, “all big things start small. Inspiration need not hit us on the head, it waits for us in everyday mundane matters. TM Abhishek Purohit in his ice breaker speech shared many life lessons and left us with a message that no effort is a waste. TM Shrirang Bhave proved by his thought provoking speech that we definitely have a better future. At such a young age he left us amazed by his wisdom of giving back to society. TM Akshay Akud also motivated us to take action to make a better India. TM Sudarshan Mahajan took us all to Goa memories and left us with a message of being warm and welcoming to the new people we meet and learn from each and every person that we meet during our journey to new places. TM Beena Mandrekar, in her advanced project gave a speech on accepting the award that was given to her by DTM Prasad Sovani who shared with everyone that TM Beena Mandrekar has been selected as our Division Governor and with this speech she became, “DISTINGUISHED TOASTMASTER BEENA MANDREKAR”. 5) TM Mayukh Roy, TM Vinand Arabale, TM Umesh Agashe, TM Manisha Singh, DTM Prasad Sovani gave detailed feedbacks to their respective speakers and proved that feedback is the essence of improvement. 6) Table Topic Master TM Pramod Kumar gave an opportunity to few members and guests to speak impromptu and gave topics related to the theme. 7) This meeting was special as we had two toastmasters from different clubs who gave us loads of learning. TM Dipti Deo Inamdar, in her language evaluator role, urged everyone to use word of the day, “Eloquence” meaning fluent in speaking or writing and idiom of the day, “Measure twice and cut once” meaning prepare before taking an action. She explained the meaning in detail and gave an excellent detailed report on good and bad usage of grammar. I personally learnt that one can deliver the report with so much calmness and that too keeping in mind the time limitation. 8) TM Ramakrishna Reddy presented a very encouraging report in his general evaluator role. He showed amazing observation skills and encouraged and educated each and every role taker. I personally learnt from his way of delivering report that each and every role is important and he made every role taker proud of his or her role. The way TM Dipti and TM Ramakrishna took the meeting to another level, proves that collaboration can take nations to a new level. 9) Timer Abhishek Gupta was sincere as always and made sure that punctuality always remains the soul of TMCP and was appreciated immensely by the General Evaluator. The meeting ended with TM Azharuddin Khadri handing over the Best speaker, Best Evaluator and Best Table Topic ribbons to the winners. TM Sudarshan Mahajan received the best prepared speech honor. DTM Prasad Sovani received the best evaluator honor. TM Manish Khanolkar received the best table topic honor. One of our guest immediately after attending the meeting put this as the Facebook status, “Once again it is awesome meeting of TMCP .. Toastmasters meeting at it’s best.. I can see the passion in everybodys eye to give out there best in every role they perform”. Will you all agree that by giving our best we all contributed to a new India The TMOD for the 267th Chapter meeting to be held on the 7th June, 2014 at BMC Software is TM Shrirang Bhave.
