MONDAY, DECEMBER 8, 2014 “THIS DAY, I PRAY” [Part 3] Good morning my dear friend. Welcome again to Wisdom Speaks Daily Devotional. Today the voice of Wisdom comes to you from the Book of Nehemiah chapter 1 verse 11: “…let Your servant prosper this day, I pray, and grant him mercy in the sight of this man...” [NKJV] Yesterday we concluded that sometimes after you have prayed standing on God’s words of promise, and after you have done all that the Lord instructs you to do on the issue, the next thing is to wait patiently and confidently for the answer to manifest. But that been established, what about when “the answer is just taking too long to come”—what should you do in such cases? Some Christians easily jump into conclusion that Satan or “the Prince of Persia” is responsible for such delay in the manifestation of their desired answers from the Lord. While it is scripturally true that Satan can hinder or delay manifestation of answers to prayers, it is assume he is responsible in all cases. A careful study of the Holy Scriptures reveals that sometimes the answer is delayed, not because certain principalities and powers of darkness are involved, but because there are certain things that need to be set in order. God is a God of order and as mighty as He is He submits Himself to the law of time and order which He has set. Please read the following Scripture conversations carefully: “When He opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain for the word of God and for the testimony which they held. And they cried with a loud voice, saying, ‘How long, O Lord, holy and true, until You judge and avenge our blood on those who dwell on the earth?’ And a white robe was given to each of them; and it was said to them that they should rest a little longer, until both the number of their fellow servants and their brethren, who would be killed as they were, was completed” (Revelation 6:9-11). “Then I said, ‘Lord, how long?’ and He answered: ‘Until the cities are laid waste and without inhabitant, the houses are without a man, the land is utterly desolate, the LORD has removed men far away, and the forsaken places are many in the midst of the land” (Isaiah 6:11-12). These Scriptures show that when the answer to prayer is apparently delayed it is wrong to always conclude that it is the activity of some “Prince of Persia”. Sometimes God is waiting for certain things to be put in order within and around the person who prayed. It took God 25 years to fulfill His promise to Abraham, not because the “Prince of Canaan” delayed it but because God needed to set certain things in order in the lives and minds of Abraham and Sarah and also in the world around them to fit perfectly into His purposes. When all things were set, at the fullness of the time, Isaac was born according to the promise. Therefore the wise and scriptural thing to do when you feel the answer is taking too long is to ask the Lord for wisdom. It is better to ask the Lord than to jump into foolish conclusions, however religious it may be. Many have jumped into such conclusions and have taken certain carnal and foolish actions that have complicated their matter and further extended their waiting time rather than shorten it. Sadly, many of such foolish actions were religious ones. It is wise to ask the Lord for wisdom when you feel the answer to your prayer is taking too long to come than jump into foolish conclusions. And you can be sure that the Lord will answer you and show you the great and mighty things that you don’t know about the issue if you ask Him in faith (Jeremiah 33:2-3). More light on this tomorrow. PRAYER: My heavenly Father, I believe You have heard my prayer, but the answer seems delayed. Please show me what is responsible for the apparent delay in the manifestation of the answer to my prayer. Thank You, my Father, in Jesus name. Amen.
