MORAL MOVEMENT MISSISSIPPI heres a moral issue worth fighting against. In addition, last year the the legislature enacted a law allowing the Executive Director of DHS, Ricky Berry to contract with vendors or private for-profit contractors to provide ANY of its services. Now in the Jackson Free Press Democrats Blast Child Support Privatization, Thursday, August 28, 2014 article we find that 17 southwest Mississippi counties are serving as a pilot program prior to handlng over the entire state to a pilot for-profit corporation set to make millionsss. For now 50 workers are slated to loss their jobs. Berry even recognized the outstanding work of the public workers in increasing child support collections. To hear the Reverend Representative Gipson say that the PEER committee (the investigative branch) recommended removing DOE workers from under the SPB to making it easier for workers to be fired is a joke. The same PEER committee reported that state workers does a better job of collecting child support than the private for-profits just doesnt matter to the Teapublicans. I will post the voting record of the lawmakers drinking the wacky tea that puts profits before people. Our state workers have been forced to work long hours traveling from county to county to input the data of all of the child support cases into the system where policy will dictate the benefits is just a mild way of treating the workers as a commodity to be used and discarded, We need to write letters to the editor, demostrate, march, vote out immoral lawmakers and whatever we can do to stand up and fight back...In Solidarity
