MORNING MOTIVATION: DARE TO RECEIVE THAT FEEDBACK WHILE YOU LIVE! Friends, sitting before the TV on Tuesday and watching people give those moving tributes to our late President, Michael Sata, I imagined how we would all end our race differently if we dared to open up our lives to receive those tributes and criticisms while we lived. How would you live your life differently, if you read your obituary before you reached the end of your life. I strongly believe that we would end our lives greater. It could help us to realize that the people we thought hated us, would actually endure the stress of sitting the whole day to give us a befitting send off. It would help us to know that not everyone in our camp felt the same way about us and we would be compelled to change for the better now. Yes! We would have opportunity to hear both what we want to and what we must hear. Therefore, just like we had 14 days of national mourning and books of condolences opened, it will be nice for our next President to declare a day of NATIONAL FEEDBACK for him and his govt while he lives. This must be especially from his cabinet and may brave men be in that cabinet to speak and not only useless yes bwanas. This is what the greatest leader of all time, Jesus Christ did. He declared a day of feedback from his cabinet while he lived. Hear the story below: Matthew 16:13-19 MSG When Jesus arrived in the villages of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, “What are people saying about who the Son of Man is?” They replied, “Some think he is John the Baptizer, some say Elijah, some Jeremiah or one of the other prophets.” He pressed them, “And how about you? Who do you say I am?” Simon Peter said, “You’re the Christ, the Messiah, the Son of the living God.” Jesus came back, “God bless you, Simon, son of Jonah! You didn’t get that answer out of books or from teachers. My Father in heaven, God himself, let you in on this secret of who I really am. And now I’m going to tell you who you are, really are. You are Peter, a rock. This is the rock on which I will put together my church, a church so expansive with energy that not even the gates of hell will be able to keep it out. “And that’s not all. You will have complete and free access to God’s kingdom, keys to open any and every door: no more barriers between heaven and earth, earth and heaven. A yes on earth is yes in heaven. A no on earth is no in heaven.” Meanwhile, before we go national and global, let us try this at our personal leadership level (including in marriage). Open up your life and receive peoples sincere, honest and genuine feedback now e.g. as wife you may say to your husband: Honey! Out of 10, how do you rate me as a wife? If you get 6/10, ask what you could do to get 10/10. You can do the same as a pastor, employee, dependant etc. Do not react to the feedback or demonize the respondents. Respond to it like Jesus did. Your are next in line among the great of our time. Accept the challenge to live this world a better place than you met it. Do not wait until you die to receive that feedback or that tribute. Feedback is what takes men from the back to the front. Receive it now! There is greatness in you. Allow feedback to bring it out now. Shalom!
