Thousands of big and small development works have been launched, implemented and completed during the last five years of present dispensation and the current year would witness further fillip to these activities. This was stated by Chief Minister while addressing a mammoth public gathering at Kellar, Shopian in Kashmir after inaugurating Rs. 5.50 crore Sub-District Hospital yesterday. The Chief Minister said that historic initiatives of Right to Information Act, Public Service Guarantee Act, Accountability Commission and Vigilance Commission have been initiated and implemented to give powers to common people through legislations to scan the functioning of government and helping in giving good governance. He said that 80 public services have been brought under the ambit of Public Service Guarantee Act so that service delivery of these services would be time bound and the officials responsible for delay in delivering the services would be fined and the affected consumers compensated out of the fined imposed on the officials. NIA The National Investigation Agency NIA today announced a cash reward of up to 10 lakh rupees for any information leading to arrest of five absconding persons accused of belonging to the banned Indian Mujahideen terror group and suspected of being involved in Bodh Gaya and Patna serial blasts. NIA released their sketches on its website and appealed to the general public to provide information about them. It clarified the identity of those providing information shall not be disclosed. Five monks were injured in Bodh Gaya blasts on 7th July while six people died in Patna blasts during a rally addressed by BJPs Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi on 27th October. BHALLA To deal with drinking water scarcity in Chak Bijan, Adarsh Enclave, K C Colony and Trikuta Nagar Extension, Minister for Housing, Raman Bhalla yesterday laid foundation of a deep drill tube well at ChakBijan, to be completed at a cost of Rs. 196.96 lakh. He said the project would be completed within 4 months by PHE department. Responding to the locals demand, Mr. Bhalla said Government has earmarked Rs. 40 lakh for road widening and macadamization of Chak BIjan, Adarsh Enclave and Trikuta Nagar Extension internal links, adding that the project would start soon after completing tendering formalities. EMPLOYMENT FAIR The District Employment and Counselling Centre, Kathua is organizing two day employment fair at Phinter (Playground) tehsil Billawar on 20th &21st November, 2013. Similarly, the District Employment and Counselling Centre Doda is also organizing two day employment fair at Block Thatri in the premises of tehsil Office Thatri from November 30 to December 01 and at Government High School Trown, from December 10 to December 11. All the departments dealing with Employment Generating Schemes and financial Institutions will participate and display their schemes through their stalls. Experts of different departments linked with employment generating schemes will remain available in the fair to guide un-employed youth in setting up their own employment ventures. RECRUITMENT RALLY About 20,000 candidates have been screened till date and approximately four to five thousand candidates are anticipated to participate in the Army Open Recruitment rally, which was kick started on November 12 and will conclude on November 21. The medical examination of the successful candidates will continue upto November 21, 2013. The recruitment rally is meant for ten districts viz: Samba, Jammu, Kathua, Udhampur, Reasi, Rajouri, Poonch, Ramban, Doda and Kishtwar. The written examination of successful candidates would be held at Akhnoor at Rally site on Nov 24, 2013. The written examination for the candidates, who have been verified as fit in review medical / documents verification forwarded to various authorities, is scheduled on 02 Feb 2014. JHIRI-BHALLA Minister for Culture Raman Bhalla has said that Government is making all out efforts to provide better facilities to devotees at Baba Jitoo devsathan at Kalayanpur, adding that efforts are also being made to bring it on the tourist map. This was stated by the Minister, while addressing a large gathering at Baba Jitoo devsathan after inaugurating the 9-day long Jhiri Mela at Kalayanpur, yesterday. About 5 lakh devotees from across the country have paid obeisance at the Baba Jitto shrine, this year. Mr. Bhalla took round of all the stalls displayed by various departments to facilitate the people and directed the officers of Agriculture, Horticulture, Education, Rural Development, Health, SICOP, Floriculture, Sericulture, Animal and Sheep Husbandry to educate the people about various Government schemes and incentives so that people could avail the benefits. Mr. Bhalla said Government has already announced certain measures for the beautification of all the ancient shrines across the State including Baba Jitto and Baba Sidh Goria shrines. BADRINATH Gates of the famous Badrinath shrine will be closed for devotees this evening, ending this year’s ‘Char Dham’ yatra. According to Badrinath-Kedarnath committee officials the shrine doors will be closed at 7:38 pm and will be reopened in the month of April-May next year. Portals of all four shrines of ‘Char Dham’ circuit—Gangotri, Yamunotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath—are closed every year ahead of the onset of winters. DLRC-RAMBAN District Development Commissioner, Ramban MH Malik convened DLRC meeting with Bankers and officers of line departments at conference hall Maitra, Rabman to review the achievements in 2nd quarter of Annual Credit Plan for the current financial year. During the meeting a detailed discussion was held over the implementation of decision taken in last DLRC meeting and financial assistance schemes launched by the state and centre government for the welfare of backward and weaker section of the society. DDC emphasized on implementation of Government sponsored schemes and to increase the credit deposit ratio of the financial institutions in the district and directed the Banks to redouble their efforts to increase CD ratio in the district. He asked the banks to organize the financial awareness camps in remote and backward areas of the district. He also directed the bankers to achieve the target of KCC disbursements. SACHIN Sachin Tendulkar has dedicated the Bharat Ratna award conferred on him by the government to all the mothers in the country for the sacrifices they have made in raising their children. Addressing a press conference yesterday the iconic batsman said he was humbled to have been chosen for the highest civilian award in the country. This award is for my mother and it is for mother for all the sacrifices she has made right from my birth. Tendulkar also congratulated eminent scientist Prof CNR Rao who was also conferred with the Bharat Ratna along with him on Saturday. Tendulkar scored a combined 34,357 international runs and 100 centuries in a career-span of 24-long years. Meanwhile, Legendary Sachin Tendulkar has ended his record-breaking 200-Test career by finishing 18th in the ICC Player Rankings for Test batsmen. He jumped five places in the latest chart, released yesterday. SPORTS The 12th State Open Fencing Championship, organized by Jammu and Kashmir amateur Fencing Association, got underway at Government Degree College Billawar campus in district Kathua yesterday. Over 200 fencers, including 50 girls, are taking part in this competition to be held in different age groups of Sabre, Epee and Foil events. A host of fencers of national and international repute are taking part in this three day competition.
