***MORNING SPLASH*** TOPIC: PROLIFERATION OF FEMALE SUICIDE BOMBERS IN NIGERIA. Six persons, including two suicide bombers, have died in a bomb attack at a textile market in Kano, Wednesday, police have said. Seven others injured in the attack, are being treated at Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital. Kano Police Commissioner, Aderele Shinaba, told journalists at the scene of the bomb attack, that two female suicide bombers arrived at the market pretending to be buyers of textile materials. He said soon as they entered the market they went to behind Access Bank, and requested water they could ease themselves with in one of the market latrines. When denied water, Mr. Shinaba said the two women engaged the sellers in an argument, drawing a crowd before the two bombers detonated their explosives. Whilst most of the major attacks against aviation of the last decade, both those successful and those attempted, have been perpetrated by men, it would be a short-sighted regulator or security agency that ignores the threat posed by women. Female Tamil Tigers and Chechen Black Widows, such as those who callously targetted Moscows subway system this March, may not be the centre of the global aviation industrys attention, but their activities and willingness to die for their cause may well serve as a blueprint for future attacks. Indeed, the western media has highlighted intelligence reports that some women may even be willing to have surgical implants to achieve their goal.
