MORNING THOUGHTS: Isaiah 53:5 - 6 But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed. We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to our own way;and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all. Unless I have a specific study I am doing; I have a Bible App I turn to in the mornings for my quiet time with God. I enjoy doing this before I begin my day. Sometimes I type up a study as God speaks to me through that particular verse. I use to always send theses out. I dont anymore, as some are very personal. However, I have recently felt led to begin posting the ones which are appropriate. The passage above was my Bible verse of the day this morning. The Bible is a very unique and fascinating book. God used 39 people to compose 66 writings over a span of about 1500 years. However, it has one consistent theme which creates a thread from cover to cover. That theme is the fall and redemption of mankind. OUR SEPARATION: The theme begins in the Garden when Adam & Eve were deceived by Satan and ate from the tree of knowledge of good and Evil. This was the original sin which caused the fall of man. The Bible tells us in 1 Corinthians 15:22 in Adam all die. It also says in Romans 5:12 Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all people, because all sinned Due to this; we are all born into sin; separated from God. This separation is ETERNAL. The Bible says we are DEAD spiritually. Just as a physically dead person is powerless to do anything to make themselves alive; the spiritually dead are also powerless. We cannot simply be good and earn our way. GODS PROVISION: When mankind died spiritually; the great physician (God) went to work. He provided a way for us to be reconciled to Himself. He provided a way for us to be reborn spiritually. This way was through Christ. The first part of 1 Corinthians 15:22 says in Adam all die. However, the second part of this verse says in Christ all will be made alive. Christ took the punishment so by receiving Him and accepting His gift; we could be reborn spiritually into Gods family. We find the prophecy of this provision in our text for today... But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; (this speaks of the death of Christ for us) the punishment that brought us peace was on him, (He paid the punishment for our sin)!and by his wounds we are healed (spiritual healing...we are made alive again). This prophecy was written in the book of Isaiah approximately 700 years before Christ walked the earth. This is that cover to cover thread I spoke of. SELF EXAMINATION TIME: Before I understood the message of the Bible; I thought at judgement day God would weigh all my good stuff against all my bad and see which way the scale tipped. Now I understand that isnt possible. One sin; the smallest of sins; would would still weigh so heavy it would break the scale. However, He made another way. This is the theme of the Bible. This is what is referred to as the Gospel Message. HAVE A BLESSED DAY EVERYONE: The Gospel Message: POINT #1 No one is good enough to get to heaven on their own Romans 3:23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, POINT #2 The punishment for that sin is Hell..Eternal death. Romans 5:12 = Sin came into the world through one man, and his sin brought death with it. As a result, death has spread to the whole human race because everyone has sinned. Romans 6:23 = For sin pays its wage - death; but Gods free gift is eternal life in union with Christ Jesus our Lord. POINT #3 God made a way for us to have eternal life: Romans 5:8-10 = 8 But God has shown us how much he loves us - it was while we were still sinners that Christ died for us! 9 By his blood we are now put right with God; how much more, then, will we be saved by him from Gods anger! 10 We were Gods enemies, but he made us his friends through the death of his Son. Now that we are Gods friends, how much more will we be saved by Christs life! POINT #4 All we have to do is ask to be spiritually reborn into His family: Romans 10:9 If you confess that Jesus is Lord and believe that God raised him from death, you will be saved.
