MORNING VERSES: 1 Samuel 12:24 KJV Only fear the LORD, and serve him in truth with all your heart: for consider how great things he hath done for you. ROLAND KLINE Psalm 23:1-3 KJV The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his names sake. EVENING VERSES: Revelation 5:9 KJV And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation; INSIGHT: Worthy! What a beautiful word! For those of us who are disciples of Jesus, we know of only one who is truly worthy. He is worthy to open the scroll and reveal the future. He is worthy of praise and adoration. Why? Because even though he was holy, perfect and heavenly, his death on the cross to purchase our pardon, forgiveness, and salvation made him worthy. And he did it not just for us, but also for people of all races and languages and cultures. Jesus, you are worthy! PRAYER: Holy Lamb of God, you are worthy! You are worthy of my adoration and love. You are worthy of my worship and my devotion. And Holy Father, I thank you for your plan to send him to save me. Because of your grace in Jesus, I want to live my life in devotion to you and your will. Please forgive me for the times Ive gotten side tracked. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to return to you. In the name of Jesus, your holy Lamb slain for my sins, I offer my love and thanks. Amen. ROLAND KLINE Psalm 115:1 KJV Not unto us, O LORD, not unto us, but unto thy name give glory, for thy mercy, and for thy truths sake. Insight The psalmist asked that Gods name, not the nations, be glorified. Too often we ask God to glorify his name with ours. For example, we may pray for help to do a good job so that our work will be noticed. Or we may ask that a presentation go well so we will get applause. Challenge There is nothing wrong with looking good or impressing others; the problem comes when we want to look good no matter what happens to Gods reputation in the process. Before you pray, ask yourself, “Who will get the credit if God answers my prayer?”
