MOST PARENTS NEVER TOOK A COURSE IN PARENTING! Neither have they attended a parenting conference. Nor have they even so much as purchased one book about parenting. Rather, they have elected to guess their way through parenting. Exacerbating the problem is the fact the majority of Black pastors have never once preached a sermon on parenting. Neither do they provide a parenting ministry as an integral part of their church. Invariably, this sets Christian parents up to make a multitude of mistakes on their children. And these parenting blunders cause emotional and, at times, even psychological trauma to their children. Children lack the capacity to recognize theyre being traumatized by their parents lack of parenting skills. These children then grow up to have various personality and social problems making them public misfits to one degree or another. But those very same parents will turn around and insist that they did the best they could when raising their children. However, this is a baldfaced lie. No, they did NOT do the best they could. Thats a common parental cop-out used to justify the fact that they not only could have done a better job raising their children but that they also should have done a better job. The societal ills we face today are not there by coincidence; they are the natural consequence of below-average parenting. Wherefore, the answer to a new and better and just society will be found in effective parenting. And He who created parenthood insists that His Word is the greatest parenting tool of all. The good news is that, no matter how much you may have failed in the past, as long as you are still in the land of the living, its not too late to become the parent God wants you to be! And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: and thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up (Deuteronomy 6:6,7).
