MR Cathys sister was AGNES EDWARDS....Her husband REV. D W (Doc) EDWARDS was the pastor at First Baptist Church in Tuscumbia, where I grew up. They both signed my cradle roll certificate when I was dedicated at the church in l950-----. He then was pastor for several years in Guntersville and it was there that MR Cathy put in his first chicken operation in Alabama at a local drive in- He furnished the equipment and recipe and the local place sold his sandwiches...When I was in about the 10th or 11th grade we visited there one weekend and the Edwards insisted we had to have some sandwiches for the drive home. Who ever knew what a GIANT operation it would become. Whenever the Edwards visited Tuscumbia, they stayed with my parents in what my mom called the prophets room--One Wednesday Bro Edwards spoke at church and afterward gave everyone a card for a free chicken sandwich. As they were leaving our house, he gave the remainder of the box to me (I was in college) so I had EMERGENCY meals if money ever ran low! I never met Mr Cathy myself, but wrote him a letter once delivered thru his sister thanking him for all the scholarship matching money he made available to employees in Gadsden who then were my students. The management always worked around the students school schedules and made it possible for them to have a full time job and be full time students too.... He was VERY generous with his large income to many institutions and organizations---George T
