MR. PRESIDENT SIR, IN MORE SERIOUS DEMOCRACIES YOU SHOULD FACE - TopicsExpress

MR. PRESIDENT SIR, IN MORE SERIOUS DEMOCRACIES YOU SHOULD FACE IMPEACHMENT. (A memo published on page 10 in the GOVERNMENT magazine 15-21 Sept 2014, by Leardership Group Ltd) It is with a very deep and sombre heart that I write this letter knowing that my dear Nation is presently on the brink, and about to fall to the other side, perhaps to be remembered only by those that shall be able to make the journey, while remaining with sound mind to recalled that there was once a very strong and virile Nation called Nigeria. I used to be very optimistic that come rain or shine, whatever the rugged path our nation traverse, we shall triumph against whatever challenge that is militating against our greatness. However, the recent revelations of the country trying to be pulled down by those who are entrusted with its leadership dampened my spirit. As I write now in the early morning hours, I am not certain that the public power supply which I am among the few privileged who is still enjoying it, shall last to the next hour, or minute, to enable me complete this letter. I am also not sure that when I get out the following day, I shall arrive to my destination for work, alive, due the grave insecurity problem now bedeviling our country. Mr. President, as the Commander in Chief of Nigerian Armed Forces, it is on record today that since the end of Nigerian civil war almost 45 years ago, there has never been a time that any insurgency or group claimed this high number of innocent lives or capture any part of Nigeria until during your tenure. You shall certainly go down in history as the head of a Federal Government of Nigeria whose National Security Adviser (NSA) earlier, openly accused of sponsoring insurgency against himself as the President. Apparently, the erstwhile NSA was removed from office after he leveled this accusation on you. Recently, another retired top echelon of the security in your government (former Chief of Army Staff) and a highly influential politician (former Governor) are fingered as sponsors of the Boko Haram senseless insurgency. Yet, not minding any public criticism, as the leader of our nation you jet out on a foreign mission in company of the accused politician. Mr. President, you are the Commander in Chief of an Armed Forces thus you should then protect the citizens, but prosecute enemies who are callously, and shamelessly bombing its military and installations. Your Government so far, has spent the highest budgeted fund in the history of our Nation in the name of security, even while still seeking loan in the name of crushing insurgency from our land, yet you cannot rescue the over 200 innocent and defenceless Chibok girls, abducted by the Boko Haram members for more than 6 month. It is also pertinent to state that it is during your regime that the reputation of Nigeria as a global contributor to peace keeping mission to various countries became tarnished, since the country cannot even defend itself not to talk of helping other nations in Africa. Is it not shameful that instead of being invited to assist other countries which we used to do before your tenure, we are now inviting foreign Forces to defend us? Mr. President Sir, what should be paramount in your agenda now should be the security of lives and properties of the citizens. Unfortunately, Mr. President you seem to be more concerned with the issue of your re-election, rather than fixing the insecurity in the country. You seem to be putting the cart before the horse. In more serious democracies with vibrant parliaments what Mr. President should be facing now is impeachment, if he has not resigned from his office as a result of the on-going security challenges and his inability to resolve them. We all know that a President who cannot save his country from the prevailing predicament can never be worthy of being re-elected, unless through massive rigging. This time around the level of awareness and checkmating election rigging is much higher than the previous elections. Mr. President, you should wake up from your slumber to free our girls and re-capture all the nation’s lost territories in the North-eastern part of the country without further delay. A Stitch in Time Saves Nine! Umar Shuaibu, No. 8, Umar Shuaibu Close, STP 10 GRA. Suleja.
