MS Dhoni - A small town boy who took world cricket by storm.. From being a football goalkeeper to a ticket collector to Indian cricket captain who is carrying the hopes of billions of people.. Its been an incredible story.. It all started in 1993 where he was spotted as a goalkeeper by KR Banerjee, the cricket coach at Jawahar Vidya Mandir school and asked to try out as wicketkeeper. In 1997 he impressed for Bihar in the Vinoo Mankad Trophy national under-16 Championships. In 1999-2003 he made senior Bihar debut as an 18-year-old, but was consistently ignored by East Zone selectors, and he moved to West Bengal to work as a ticket collector at Kharagpur railway station. In 2003 After turning down an approach from Sourav Ganguly to move to Kolkata, he returned to Bihar and was recommended to the National Cricket Academy under a new talent spotting initiative. In 2004 he was selected for India A tour of Zimbabwe and Kenya, aged 23. In 23rd December 2004 he got out for a duck on his full India debut, in an ODI in Bangladesh. But on his fifth match against Pakistan in Vishakapatnam, he blasted 148 from 123 deliveries, a record for an India wicket keeper. In 2007 he was given the responsibility to lead India for the ICC World Twenty20, and he did it to perfection by winning the tournament in South Africa. The biggest achievement was in 2nd April 2011 when India lifted the World Cup after 28 years after a match-winning innings of 92* in the final against Sri Lanka in Mumbai which proved to be a fitting farewell to Sachin Tendulkar. In the Border-Gavaskar series of 2013, Dhoni became the first Indian wicket-keeper to hit a double hundred in Tests when he smashed 224 in the first Test at Chennai. He also became the first Indian wicket-keeper to complete 4000 runs in Test cricket. He is also the most successful captain for India in all the forms(Tests,ODI,T20). Under his captaincy, India became the first team in more than 40 years to whitewash Australia in a Test series. Also In June 2013, Dhoni led India to win their second Champions Trophy title. He is the first captain in the history to win all three ICC global events. 1st Indian to guide to a overseas test series win in New Zealand and Sri Lanka Dhoni is also the fastest Indian captain to complete 5000 runs in ODIs after Azharuddin and Ganguly. MS is also the first wicketkeeper-batsman in history to captain his country in 150 One Day Internationals. He also led the side to the finals of the 2014 T20 WC in Bangladesh, in which India lost to Sri Lanka.
