MSV Lif Div 1 – Wk 10 by Liliana Said Everyone was looking forward to the new 38 feet pattern, hoping for high scores but the lanes proved to be tough with no extraordinary scores recorded in this first week. HEP 02 had an 8-0 win against Bowlers on Strike. The HEPo’s started with a 745 against BOS’s 714 to win the first 2 points, and then pounded a good 778 game with Martin Deguara bowling a good 236. The 3rd game was very close and it was up to the last frame as there was just a solitary pin difference at the 10th frame. Claude went first and could only manage to hit 7 pins, while veteran Roy Swift shot straight in the middle to hit 9 pins and ensuring a full point victory for his team. St. James Hospital managed to host a full team this week but they failed to deliver as they bowled the worst series of the night at 2066. Fina were not at their best, but they managed to win 8 valuable points and are now 6 points clear ahead of okmalta Ramis were the best team of the week as opposed to last week’s performance. Still their best was not enough to ensure a 100% win against Gladiators which would have seen them inching closer to 2nd place. Starting with a good 788 and then bowling an even better 829, Ramis thought they had it easy. They did not count on The Glads’ determination as they bowled a decent 747 and managed to steal the last two points from their opponents. Turu’s Knights were simply not their self this week as they had the 2nd worst series of the night, only beaten to it by St. James Hospital. Only Tiziana Carannante seemed to be in form as she shot a good 568 series, but it did nothing to help her team mates against their boogie team Royal Shock. The latter started with a good 810 as opposed to Turu’s 723, and then proceeded with a 725, 741 against The Knights’ 699-674 to easily win the 8 points and consolidate 4th place. The surprise of the week was the match MIA vs Okmalta. Considered to be the weakest link, MIA surprised okmalta by starting with a good 774 against ok’s 745. The latter then bowled the highest game of the night, and with a huge 834 beat their opponents by 98 pins. However MIA would not give up and bowling a very good 793 vs okmalta’s poor 693, they managed to win not only the 3rd match but secure the overall total. With this win MIA improve to the penultimate position, after 9 weeks anchored at the bottom, while okmalta lost 6 valuable points against the race for the top. Bowlers of the week Joe Cassar (Royal Shock – 638) and Joanna Attard (Ramis – 575) 1. Fina – 66 2. Okmalta – 60 3. Ramis – 56 4. Royal Shock – 52 5. Hep 02 – 44 6. Turu’s Knights – 42 7. Bowlers on Strike – 30 8. Gladiattors – 20 9. MIA – 14 10. St. James Hospital - 12
