MT TAVURVUR UPDATE Residents in Rabaul have been warned not to panic but to ensure that water sources in their villagers are protected from contamination from the acidic thick smoke. The Provincial Disaster Office has confirmed that the eruption has generally subsided but some businesses remain closed in Rabaul Town. An assessment team is now being arranged and will be out sooner then later. No major reports of casualties have been noted. The Rabaul Observatory in its last update confirmed that roaring and rumbling noises have also subsided. The Public in General is being warned to wear damped clothes over their nose and mouth. Meanwhile the Member for Gazelle and Minister for Higher Education, Malakai TABAR is now on his way to the district. He informed this newsroom that places affected are villagers Ramalmal around Kabakada, Ralimut, Vuna-vatikai, Rakunai and Raluan.
