MUSIC MONDAYS: Today’s selection is courtesy of David Chase, Allendale patron and music aficionado. David has chosen Woody Guthrie’s “I Ain’t Got No Home,” one of the most poignant songs from his Dust Bowl ballads. Here’s David’s description: “This version features some great (and famous) photographs from that period. It’s an excellent song to illustrate how colloquial English is sometimes better for songwriting. ‘I haven’t got a home’ simply doesn’t work rhythmically. For those who think that this was the only way Woody Guthrie could talk, Woody was a voracious reader, whose favorite book was ‘The Prophet’ by Khalil Gibran.”
