MUST READ NEVER UNDER ESTIMATE ANYONES GOAL Failure Story - Jisha G. Nair sponsored links Dear friends, we have read many success stories so far. It is nice to read success stories of people and finally you will get the names of the books they referred, coaching institutes they joined, gods they prayed, hours they prepared, pens and pencils they used etc... It will not help us unless and until we realize and evaluate ourselves (Why do we compare ourselves with some X or Y by the way ? we dont know their levels after all). We read their success stories and finally we end up saying.. dude, S/He is lucky... So S/He got the job... Whats the reason behind this ? Because we dont know about their failures!!! We dont know how hard they tried for that success, how many sleepless nights they spent for that success...... Friends, behind every successful story there is an embarrassing failure.... which brings a struggle in mind, few sleepless nights and... finally.... the zeal to win... Here, we are sharing the failure story of miss Jisha G. Nair. The girl who calls herself a Restless Optimist... The girl who strongly believes that a failure tells us more about how to crack the exam rather than simply pointing the ways to crack the exam (don’t be confused...read it again). PROFILE Name : Jisha G Nair Occupation : No job Qualification : B.Tech C.S.E Place : Kerala DREAMS A bank job (double happy if in SBT).If not, then a government job, including armed forces. EXAMS WRITTEN Here is the list of all competitive exams I wrote. I failed in almost all... or less hopes for the exams for which result is not yet declared. SBI clerk SCRA CDSE 02/2012 CDSE 01/2013 AFCAT 01/2013 Aricent (IT Company) Spectrum Solutions (IT Company) LinkIT (IT Company) Speridian Technologies (IT Company) SBI PO Mock test (just counted...thts all) NICL Assistant RBI Grade B Officers AFCAT 02/2013 Federal Bank PO 2013 REASONS FOR MY FAILURES Friends, first of all don’t blame anyone for your failure. You failed because you didn’t prepare smartly (not hard work). In my case, if I start blaming the first person will be Olympian Saina Nehwal, (yes..I am a big badminton fan and I spend much time watching her game…: P) and list will go long till my pet cat for making meowwwww sound while i am studying :P Coming to the point... 1. SBI clerk This girl goes for SBI clerk exam during her vacation from 12th std. to 1st year of engineering. Failed because: SBI clerk…just an exam for clerical post…I will easily crack it (yes, Overconfidence). SBI clerk…just MCQs..and am a master in English (wrong…). Ooh….General Knowledge is there…i can crack it easily.(again..overconfidence) Not even cared about the syllabus and exam pattern. So no studies,no preparation at all. 2.SCRA SBI Clerk exam was a lesson….ok…so i am gonna prepare well and crack SCRA(kinda determination ;)).Bought a very thick book by XYZ publications meant for SCRA exam…read every day……hard work…;)..Failed because Didn’t touch pen & paper at home. Learned from a single book(the publishers will copy paste materials from some books and make it into a single book for the exam…same book will change name as NDA exam or any other entrance exam). Overconfidence(as she read the thick book full, once :P). Studied something… but not at all useful. 3.CDSE 02/2012 This girl is now in the pre-final year of engineering…forgot everything about SBI Clerk & SCRA….now a fresh start. “Ooo CDSE has just GK and English(Maths for boys only).English,i know it….so easy…GK…will read newspaper for current affairs”…. bought a past 10 year solved papers of CDSE book (UPSC rarely repeats the questions).Failed because Underestimated the level of competition. Never went deep into GK/GA. Never learned anything called English.(:P..see the height of ‘confidence’). Started preparation (yes, did a bit on GK/GA) only after receiving Admit card. 4.CDSE 01/2013 Failed for the previous one….will prepare more this time(see it is prepare more..not prepare well..:D).Bought book for GA & English(Thank God…atleast this girl did that :P).Here,i can blame my B tech…didn’t prepare at all for this exam.Failed because Never read GA fully.(Yes,i had the book. But didn’t read) This time also said Good Bye to English…(over confidence). Prepared only current affairs & a bit GK…did better than last time….but was damn sure that my name will not be there in UPSC list. 5.AFCAT 01/2013 Then AFCAT…easier than CDSE(yes, but competition is high).Very similar to my old SBI Clerk :P……Ok…Quantz……i cannot do this S.P-C.P or Speed=D/T and all…..so i am not preparing for it (AFCAT doesn’t have sectional cut offs). Failed(score 110,cut off was 144/300..yes IAF will publish the marks)because: Didn’t learn GK as I learned it for CDSE. (AFCAT is easier than CDSE na…so y should i waste time…:P).Thanks to CDSE…made a few questions correct. Didn’t prepare a word called maths or quantitative aptitude(I cannot do..so m nt wasting time on it). Prepared only verbal ability as i am a master in english. My CDSE GK,Verbal & English skills will make it a cake walk(No…because, didn’t do GK 100%,Verbal also ). 6.Aricent (IT Company) 7.Spectrum Solutions(IT Company) 8.LinkIT(IT Company) 9.Speridian Technologies(IT Company) Failed for all these…:D…because: Not interested in IT job(yes, that will take u to wrong answers :P) Not prepared a word called maths(while it was their trump card…:D) Lack of practice-Speridian Technologies(IT Company) conducted online test. This girl (even though a CSE Engg. Student) is taking online test for the first time. 10.SBI PO MOCK TEST Again, took it silly. Not bothered about syllabus.Instead learned all history, geography etc(yes,it was asked in my CDSE and AFCAT in the GK part)…don’t even know a term called ‘banking awareness’. Reasoning-yes, i know blood relation & all……assumptions, cause & effect…these are simple things…:P. 11.NICL Assistants Exam Same result, because, with my SBI PO mock test, said good bye to my history, geography etc..learned banking & insurance terms for GK….All badaaa reasoning things…….but NICL didn’t ask anything which i learned…Again there is lack of knowledge and lack of systematic learning.Didn’t even solve a single sample paper…:P 12.RBI Grade B Officers I applied for this exam without a second thought. But later I found out that,I am not eligible because of date of degree completion. But I continued with my preparation.I came to know that GA section has more questions on Economics. Then I also applied for AFCAT 02/2013 exam, and came to know that there is a chance of date clash. Then switched my preparations to AFCAT. Luckily I was given the day before my AFCAT exam for RBI exam.I was confident this time,as I was preparing for AFCAT(I know something :D).Exam went well,I cleared all sections except GA.I didn’t clear GA because I didn’t study anything from Economics(simple…;)).But this boosted my confidence level that I can ‘crack’ the exams. 13.AFCAT 02/2013 On the very next day after RBI Exam,I gave AFCAT 02/2013.I was preparing for this exam from the last one month.Exam was a tough one,and seeing the paper I decided to apply the best of my knowledge.Even English was tough for me.Maths was the toughest.I solved easy questions first,in the first go I solved about 55 questions. Then in the second round,I added 20 more to it.I had only little hopes for clearing this exam. There were no such pre-prepared plans for time management for each section, but I decided to complete one round in 1 hr.,for which I took 20 minutes more. But,on the other hand,I was feeling satisfied and confident too…as I did my best.I studied 4 to 6 hours a day, sticking to the syllabus, devoting equal time for each section.I stopped my studies two days before exam. Also I didn’t join any study groups at exam venue. While I was travelling to the exam center,I just went through that day’s newspaper and heard songs.(I was in a very tensed and disappointed condition,as I was in a pool of failures. But my parents told me to focus on bank exams, and that gave me a bit relief,as I can appear for bank exams only in 2014.) 14.Federal Bank PO I was much confident for this exam.Did well except, for GA I expected 50-50 current affairs and banking awareness, but it had more banking awareness, which may make me fail,if cut off goes high.(This gave me a lesson that “Don’t make much expectations..:D”. DEALING WITH MY FAILURES !! This girl is an engineer now.It is time to think about career seriously.I took a break for 1 month. Just analysed myself(that is what i am writing here).Decided not to join any IT company (yes,if u give 40k or 50k ,you will easily get a job offering 12k to 15k).Yes,i too thought that i cannot crack it.But,i thought about the difficulties which i faced till date. She is an average student…but passed one of the toughest course in the world-Engineering, without even making a single backpaper(yes,i am an all pass student in all semester exams,so people expect more,….it was just hard work & nothing else). Came across Gr8Ambitionz…found it quite helpful and now a regular follower of it. Bought separate books for all subjects(Books will give you confidence and more practice questions.).No compromise on quality of material.(ooh..that book costs Rs.500,haan..this book, same concepts Rs.200 only,so ‘m going to loose Rs.200….no…don’t do that). Learned shortcuts for addition, subtraction and multiplication(all from Gr8Ambitionz,coz here it is more easier than in my book.) Learned squares up to 40(yes,i am also a human being,i can say it correctly till 20,revising rest everyday…:)) Learned tables up to 20.Cubes upto 10 only(but trying more.) Made a time table according to my convenience (yes,i cannot miss Saina’s match or some comedy shows and FB too..:P).Sticking on to the time table (not Time now). Using video tutorials and Gr8Ambitionz for preparation…learning slowly about 6-7 hrs. a day.Sometimes it goes long,if I got stuck in some topic or problem.(yes,i need that much time.you may need only just 3 hrs. as we both are not same). Making concepts clear, don’t care how much time i spend for a single topic…what matters is I must be able to do all types of questions. Making notes from internet so that i can refer it when required. Learning English(yeah…finally… ) May be my wrong concept,i am not learning current affairs, but reading newspapers(it is my habit from my 5th std. onwards, not in view of any competitive exam). Current Affairs,I will learn just 2-3 weeks before the exam.(It is quite helpful for me,as I am reading news paper everyday,it may not help you sometimes). Discussed my views and decisions with family members, took their opinion also(so they know my aim and my study plan,so will not disturb me,yes, friend this is not civil service exam .But for me every exam is civil service only…:P). There is time for solving question papers,in my time table.(Not now,but later on….yes, i made a long plan). A SMALL SUCCESS !!! On one side it is a big success,as I was in a pool of failures. But,on the other side,it is just a step closer,as interview matters. It was September 20,my birthday :D…..evening when I logged in,I just checked Air Force site and was surprised to see “Results AFCAT 02/2013”.With less hopes,I opened the pdf…….and saw a familiar roll no. …:D…and my mind said “yes, you cleared this”….:D…..It was a great relief for me, also I am much confident these days. SUGGESTION FOR YOU !! (yes,i am no one to suggest, but these may help you.) Friend, what i wrote above is my views and analysis on my performance. You can also do it by just spending a few hours/ a day peacefully. You may be thinking that, Why this girl didn’t go to any coaching institute. Why friend ? Why should i go for coaching when i have at least 10 ways to solve a problem in front of me (Books+ Internet=I can do a question as i wish). If you find it useful, then go for coaching. But it is the player who is playing and not the coach. Coach can sit only in the gallery.. :P. Don’t compromise on entertainment for studies and studies for entertainment.(because you are not a super-brain). Analyze yourself, get the resources, make a study plan and learn. Don’t loose hope if you don’t clear the exam. Exams will come in next year also. Practice more and more.Be confident and stay happy and calm. Use internet, use FB for studies also(not chatting,i mean FB study groups / pages). A mother of 3 kids(now) became the world boxing champion 5 times. A ball boy of 1987 world cup cricket, became the God of Cricket. A girl with small feet became the badminton star. A man who never heard of computer in his childhood became one of the founders of Infosys. You are not working for a world championship, but you are working for your dream job.If he/she can,you also can do it…because you,she/he and I are humans. All the best friends…Thanks to Gr8Ambitionz for giving me this opportunity. Regards, Jisha G Nair You can contact her here Thanks is very small word to appreciate your efforts Sister..... Thank you so much for such a wonderful Idea.... Sorry for the delay in posting ...
