MUVHANGO’s Albert Mukwevho is still traumatised by his exit from the soapie, so says the soapie’s publicity team! This came after he turned down an invitation to be part of the special screening of his own funeral in the soapie, where journalists and fellow actors were meant to watch his exit on screen before it was flighted to the public. Muvhango’s publicist, Amanda Ngudle, told Sunday Sun that Albert, aka “Bertie” played by Ndivhuho Mutsila, explained that he and his real life family are still “mourning” his departure. Last week, fans of the Venda soapie vented their anger on social networks after Bertie’s death and hinted that he should be brought back the same way they did with KK (played Macdonald Ndou). At the screening, which took place at the SABC’s Henley Studios, in Auckland Park, Jozi, Muvhango’s publicity team couldn’t convince reporters as to whether Albert willingly retired or if it were imposed on him. Albert has been with the soapie for more than 15 years, firstly as a cultural advisor – before he went on screen. Some of the reasons cited by the team was that he’s too old and has other commitments but will still continue to be the soapie’s cultural advisor. Sunday Sun understands that Bertie also advised on his funeral proceedings and that seems to have traumatised him. As questions were flowing, the team was rescued by one of Albert’s colleagues, who advised participants to refrain from going on a witch-hunt by asking negative questions around Albert’s death. “He was a very good and talented man and we must celebrate him while he’s still alive to show that we acknowledge his contribution in the industry. “He welcomed me when I joined the soapie and he has seen it all, even those who came and went,” said a man who plays Phatudi’s brother in the soapie. Albert was not available for comment. He is dead in the soapie. Perhaps the People’s Paper will meet him on the streets and clarify what exactly led to his unexpected exit.
