MY #BEYOURBEST MOMENT WITH TEMITOPE AJIJOLA HOW FAR CAN YOUR PASSION GET YOU? Great Saturday this is. How are you doing dear friends? I am sure it’s been a super great month the month of May. Now we getting into June tomorrow, which, by the way, is by Birth-month (6th June). I am excited! You know, as the months roll by, we get closer to the end of the year and before we all know it, it’s Christmas again and we preparing for another new year. The question I love to ask is ‘what are you doing with your time, your ideas, your dream and your passion?’ Last week, I was flying back from Abu Dhabi and I had the time to catch a movie on board. This time I saw Mandela: The Long Walk to Freedom. Yes! I have seen loads of Mandela movies and the struggle to end apartheid. However, this one struck me in a special way. It is Mandela’s personal story so viewers of this movie are able to see the fight in the eyes of Mandela himself. So what’s so special about this movie? It’s just one word – PASSION. If I didn’t learn or gain any lesson or experience from it, at least I was able to focus on my passion. I saw the power of passion and what and where it can get you to. Mandela & his closest allies were determined to end apartheid. That was their singular passion. They wanted freedom and they are ready to give anything. They are ready to sacrifice anything for this. It was obvious that nothing and no one was going to get in their way. Not even death or the threat of it. Mandela said this while being tried in court. I have paraphrased this though. “…Freedom for all is what we ask. This is what we dream of. That every South African of every race or tribe should be free. This is the dream we are ready to live for and if necessary die for…” So I said to myself ‘what is that dream of mine that I could really die for if I have to?’ Now I want you to ask yourself this same question. What are you that passionate about that nothing in this world can tempt you away from it? We have spoken a lot about your dreams and how to know your true calling and if you already know this, then you have to create a sense of passion around it and truly stand for what you believe and see yourself achieving. Mandela’s legacy is forever. But there is no true legacy without real passion even in the face of discomfort and death. I once visited Mandela’s prison cell in Robben Island, Cape Town (picture cover). I never was the same again after that visit. I have always heard about Mandela but after that visit I saw what passion can do and where it can get you to. Your passion is unique and if you let it flourish and take you to your desired destination, the entire world can be a better place for it. #BEYOURBEST
