MY CAUSE AND ME The nearest and very dearest thing to me; A - TopicsExpress

MY CAUSE AND ME The nearest and very dearest thing to me; A self-imposed duty and commitment, a magnificent obsession; My last thought before sleep at night; That wakes with me to confront each new day. So urgent and necessary that defeat and death are not options, Why I must eternally and endlessly contend with, and seek to overcome, The often fatal complexities and always intense conflicts of human existence. It is the exercise in futility that challenged me, To mature and develop beyond The reverberating, echoing taunts of Lady Virtue; That caused me to transcend the need to provide recurring proofs, Of my manhood and my courage. It cured me of my adrenalin addiction. It consumes and dissects me, Into my most truthful and honorable parts. It inspires and uplifts me, and makes me capable Of prophesy and moral consistency, It is the wellspring of the fortitude that allows me to continue to cherish the dream, The ever receding chimera of a world at peace. The single solace it affords me, Is the very satisfying and nearly fulfilling knowledge, That the investment of three decades immersed in degradation; Of suffering, of poverty, of homelessness, of loneliness, without relief or surcease, Has not one whit diminished or weakened my determination To be a harbinger of enduring positive changes and a voice of peace. The Watch Is Almost Done A space replete with denial and discipline. An empty, lonely shell. An arena of trial and tribulation, Appropriate to forge a spirit of truth. A minute focus of honor, In a world bereft of morality. A concentrated spawn of light, Growing and developing, fed by The heat of poverty and despair. Indomitable, determined and undeniable, Drawing on love, on a perceived human potential for good, Coalescing into a radiant torch, To illuminate every mind on Planet Earth, The watch is almost done. A HARBINGER OF FREEDOM? I hope and petition humanity that I will always be remembered, As a human being who endlessly and relentlessly sought to achieve FREEDOM, And valued this transcendent state so highly That he dedicated his life to creating, A FREEDOM ROAD for every human being. As one who never hoarded this priceless gift; Nor used it for personal gain or self aggrandizement; But always strived with all his heart and mind to construct ways For all of humanity to partake of this bounty, To have them consume the feast of independence and liberty. Remember me as a man who honored and valued TRUTH above all else, But one who never perceived this as anything but the means, To the ultimate, transcendent end of human happiness, prosperity and peace. My Duty to Life Telling the truth as much as humanly possible precipitated exponentially expanding intelligence, A deeper, more comprehensive and ultimately edifying appreciation of beauty, It developed in me a hitherto impossible unattainable capacity for love, The means to process information into the facts that would support function, And created the capability to formulate the accurate descriptions of the existing social reality, The necessary prerequisite to fashioning and forging solutions to social problems whatever their subtlety and complexity, But most of all it created in me the formidable integrity and moral consistency That allowed me to perceive with awesome clarity and so perform my quintessential mission That has become my transcendent enterprise and magnificent obsession My duty to do anything and everything to preserve and succor sentient life.
