MY EMAIL TO TALKING HEADS: Hi Stu, The Isle of Man has lost - TopicsExpress

MY EMAIL TO TALKING HEADS: Hi Stu, The Isle of Man has lost ONE THIRD of its income in the 2010 VAT deal. What this means is that there are 51,000 people of working age who are heads of families or who live alone. This loss of One third of our income translates to costing each person a minimum of £2400 per year per head based on the loss of £120 Million Pounds. This year there is a further loss in the VAT deal quoted at about £12 Million Pounds. The Manx Government is finding ways to claw this money back to balance the so-called books. It is charging the following: Charging children to get the school bus Charging people to dump TV sets and monitors at the amenity site Charging for a sewage charge expected to top £300 per year per family now added to the rates. Charging to park cars at the airport Housing rent increases Now they are going to add many hundreds of pounds to the domestic rates to people living in the countryside. All these charges will cause a lot of problems to people living here. Those living alone maybe driven out of their own homes due to the massive rates increases on the way. Regards, Michael
