MY GIGS OF THE YEAR, NO PARTICULAR ORDER OF PREFERENCE. Govt Mule – Forum. Awesome band, spectacular venue Jeff Beck/Beth Hart – Concert Hall. Finally get to see one of my favourite guitarists. North Mississippi Allstars - Corner Hotel. Another band I’ve been waiting to see. Well worth the wait. Devon Allman Band – Forum Melbourne. Support for Gov’t Mule. Great southern rock. Mr Black and Blues - Hobart Blues Club. The Duke Hotel left standing…Just!!!! Shannon Bourne Band – Cherry Blues. Shannon never fails to put in a jaw dropping show. One of the world’s great guitarists and sonic genius. Better than Jeff Beck… Seriously!!!! Three Kings – Cherry Blues. Winners of just about every Melbourne Blues awards this Year. These guys are going to kill ‘em in the Memphis Blues play offs. Chris Russell’s Chicken Walk – Both gigs at Cherry Blues just awesome. Such a pleasure to see these Chris reaping the rewards for years of hard work. Justin Yap Band – Cornish Arms. Can’t get enough of them really. Another great guitarist and band. Sooo good. Salty Dog – Maldon Blues Club. These guys were surprisingly good. Encore of Rhiannon went into orbit!!!! Thanks to Ken and Paula for getting me there. MBAS – too many great gigs to remember them all. Well done all for your great work MBAS Youth in Blues Group. 3MDR Benefit Gig. What a pleasure it has been to witness these youngsters respond so well to the mentoring of Wayne Jury, Kelly Auty, Lloyd Spiegel , Matthew Frederick and Michael Pollitt. Rust – Grand Hotel Warrandyte. Great band. Great gig. Wish they would play more gigs. Lloyd Spiegel – MBAS. Another of the world’s finest guitarists right in our own back yard. ESPY Christmas Eve Blues – Mr Black and Blues, Blues Mountain, Paulie Bignall, Justin Yap Band. Good to see the Espy cottoning on to the burgeoning Melbourne blues scene. Its been a great year of live blues music in Melbourne and Im already looking forward 2015. With thanks to all the great venues and artists. Special thanks to Helen Long, Harry Long, Max Crawdaddy, Johanna Verberne Michael Pollitt Mahalia Swinfield, Diane Forster, John Smith, John Jerman,Chris Russell,Brandon Tomlin and MBAS for being there.
