MY MORNING RANT: We all know that many interactions with police - TopicsExpress

MY MORNING RANT: We all know that many interactions with police these days are unfavorable. I had such an interaction in Fuquay in the recent past in my bank parking lot because I rolled a back road stop sign that everybody around here used to roll because it was behind the bank near a railroad track. It was a black over 6 foot officer who clearly thought he was in the middle of Chicago, and here I was, pretty white woman in tank top and shorts in a convertible mazda miata, teeny car, and you would of sworn I was about to pull an oozi out of my shorts the way he treated me. I had opened my car door and was was trying to get my pocketbook out from behind the drivers seat. I started laughing at him when he crouched and started yelling at me with his hand on his gun. Sonny has some of it on tape. I asked him was his job so stressful that he thought someone like me was going to hurt him, and he said YES. I then told him maybe he should seek out another line of work and get some counceling because stress kills. That pissed him off even worse and he started yelling at me again until another officer pulled in to see what was going on. Jesus Christ, I just rolled a stop sign and was clearly going to the ATM. That being said, it is officers like these that we should be concerned about as citizens. We see so much police brutality in social media, and 9 times out of 10 an officer gets off scott free for what any one of us would do time for. Something definately has to change. Body cameras that record what they say and do to us I think is a great start. I am sure crooked cops will find a way around it at times, but data in places where they have made them wear one drastically reduced police violence. Now... on to the last statement I would like to make. Not all police officers are bad, there actually are some who do have a heart and strive to do the right thing, but in this time, are few and far between it seems. When faced with too much corruption, they quit and join organizations like Law Enforcement Against Prohibition Law Enforcement Against Prohibition (LEAP) UK or other civil rights Orgs. to help affect change. I am happy to see awareness being raised on this issue and pray for an awakening and a new definition of what is actually criminal. One Love
