MY PARTNER IS A GOOD FOR NOTHING SELFISH #*&#$#@!!!!! I often - TopicsExpress

MY PARTNER IS A GOOD FOR NOTHING SELFISH #*&#$#@!!!!! I often direct relationship success and struggles to our own skills and attributes. I understand the ultimate failure and success of our relationships are not solely dependent upon our own actions and reactions. Relationships are dynamic. They ebb and flow as information, both verbal and nonverbal are bounced back and forth slowly forming to each new input. It is not just what I convey but how my partner reacts to what I convey and subsequently how I respond to how they respond and so on and so forth. Awareness of this complex dynamic of relationships can help us in navigating the difficult waters of intimacy and connection. I further understand that not every individual situation is perfectly suited for every post. If a post appealed to everyone most likely it would be substantially lacking in substance. There are plenty of anti-social and sadistic people out there and one of them conceivably could be your partner. In such a case, the answer is usually to find the support and assistance to free yourselves from the torments of the relationship. But most of us were somewhat clear minded enough to choose a person who we loved at one time whose idiosyncrasies and weaknesses were manageable if not even a little cute to us in the beginning. Our partners come complete with a mixture of different strengths and weaknesses. Our tainted view of them is more likely a change in our interpretation of their behaviors than a complete evil character change in them. So before you quickly disregard a post of personal responsibility to a relationship remember that often those who are most in need of new challenging insights are also those who will also be apt to dismiss the insights which they are desperately in need of. So if your first reaction is: This is excellent advice for my partner but not me, or This does not pertain to me, my partner really is a good for nothing selfish @$%$$#%. I suggest you take a second look for the possible insights into your own soul. Slow down and look again! Troy Murphy
