MY REVISED THOUGHTS ON FOODS....Dangers etc So you all may be aware that I have been avoiding wheat for a year and a half and have lost a load of weight and also had huge health gains.. (24kilos weight loss) I have also tried to produce all of our families meat and vegetable requirements.. Stopped cooking with oils and used lard, and now only drink water, I have minimised sugar etc and stopped eating anything from a packet.. only eating what can be made with real ingredients.. So i had decided to avoid all grains and thinking it was gluten that was the evil... but niggling me was the thinking that ... how can we all become intolerant to Wheat... to milk... to all these different food groups??? --------So after a lot more research I honestly think it is the farming processes that have been inflicted on these food groups...-------- WHEAT GRAINS etc...... have so much weed killer put on they may as well be bathed in it... and then when it is stored in the silos... they are covered in chemicals to prevent moulds, pests and rats... ------- We shall be growing our own oats and wheat organically and processing what we need on the farm also our own maize flour too.. and seeing if all the health issues stay away... RICE.... as a farmer from abroad who farms rice once told me ... everything loves to eat rice... he wouldnt eat the stuff knowing what he has to put on it to get to the end result.. --------only the other week I saw a programme that backed this up... to make rice safe to eat... it stated you had to wash rice under a running tap very well, then cook in 8 times the amount of water to rice... and then once again rinse in boiling running water once cooked... TO REMOVE 45% of the chemicals, arsenic and heavy metals from it... forget that... we will eat organic rice now only and that quite rarely ... BASMATI rice is the safest of the non organic rices to use.. MILK & DAIRY......... well yes sure there are people who are better off not consuming it.. but after much research as to how these animals are farmed... and then the processes on the raw products.. and then then plastics which could also be causing health issues... --------Well.... I prefer to buy from my neighbour, whos cattle are grass fed and kept organically, milked by hand and in a very low intensity way... until I can rear us our own cow..... I have learned to make butter and cheese and its well worth the effort... the taste of the raw milk too is so different to store bought... VEGETABLES........ Well I think truly the chemicals liberally sprayed on these are just as bad as the wheat situation, also when boxed up they are sprayed again to prevent rot, pests etc... some of the most used veg, onions, potatoes, tomatoes, etc, are some of the most heavily sprayed crops.. ---------What a difference if we could all grow just the essentials.. Organic is the only way forwards.. but often hard to get all you need, so poly tunnel it is for us.. for our winter needs.. and veg plots for our summer needs.... I love juicing, but found when juicing nonorganic fruit and veg I got quite ill, depressed, anxious, sleep issues and skin problems, just like i would with wheat consumption... proof for me that its the sprays thats the issues... Organic and I have no problems. MEATS, I have reared all our own meats for such a long time I can not stand the taste of mass produced super market meat... full of chemicals, and grown too quickly kept in cramped conditions... ---------We rear, pigs for pork bacon and all charcuterie, rendering lard too, they are fed as green a diet as possible, to maintain the omega 3 in there meat, as grain fed meats are high in omega6.... BUT HERE I ask my self once again.... could the research proving the omega 6 problems on grain reared meats be flawed?? As could the pesticides etc be changing things in there diets and in there bodies... ?? its just me wondering.. and awaiting the answers... WE produce all our poultry meat and rear pigeons too for meat... cow for beef, sheep for meat and soon milk, and fibres... COOKING OILS, is bad due to the changes that happen when over heated, it is also a immune suppressant, and a carcinogen.. I wonder if it is once again chemicals... Whilst on holiday I saw the sunflower fields all ripe and ready fro harvesting.. but then saw a helicopter fly over with huge spray arms on dowsing the crop with fungicides.. on asking the local farmers why they explained... when ready the sunflowers.. dry, and drop there heads down in a sad way... this leaves the back of the flower up which has a natural dish in.. this collects rain and morning dew, which if left unsprayed then told festers and rots the middle of the sunflowers out.. --------We choose to render our lard and only use that to cook in... I have had my cholesterol levels checked all through the last 2 years... in the first 6 months it raised a little, then each time after I have had fabulous results with a very healthy score with great good cholesterol counts rather than the unhealthy bad... which in my opinion is still up for debate any how... We also use butter which we shall be producing next year from our own milk... and use small amounts of olive oil.. SUGAR & SWEETENERS... I have reduced as much as I can, I avoid buying sweets laced with sugar and foods too... but over the last year have become aware that its not just sugar in the sweets etc, its corn syrup. which I have learn and mentioned earlier about all the chemicals sprayed on grains etc... so here we have an issue ... Also I read last night that sugar beat also is a highly sprayed crop.. so could the health problems too be related to the chemicals used? ---------We as I have said try not to use sugar, next year we shall be producing our own honey, from our own hives, at the moment we buy honey and also if we do use sugar use the natural non white type... DRINKS.... all kids drinks and sugary juices etc are contaminated with the corn syrups, or artificial sweetening chemicals... and highly laced with additives.. so --------We have just given them up, The other night we went out for a meal and had a sparkling kids drink and all of us including the kids said YUK... it leaves a fowl taste in your mouth, tastes mouldy and just not nice.. we drink sparkling water and milk, I replaced ENERGY DRINKS... ( my old weakness ) with a green tea, boiled in a saucepan with cardamon pods, a few pieces of stem ginger and a squeeze of lemon juice.. if i need a pick up re bull type boost this does it for me and is lovely both hot or cold... JUICING... I love juicing and cant wait to be juicing my own produce from the garden for my breakfast again.. We try and cook everything from scratch and try not to buy any food that things can be hidden in... why take the risk with additives, poisons and chemicals.... I really feel on reflection that even though we have all experienced massive health benefits of giving up all grains... I am sure its the farming techniques and chemicals that are causing humans to react in a bad way to them, THE SOILS... are poor and no longer holding vitamins and minerals to give to our produce.. with constant chemical application the soil si more like a carrier bag to hols the crops in and has nothing given to it to feed our foods... we add heart to our soil adding manure... green manure... and good farming practice ... we can see the soil changing year after year.. darker ... more life in it... more produce.. per acre... compared to our neighbours who are chemical farmers... SO this is my latest thinking... my latest reasons for being self sufficient.... and my learnings from a lot of study of the last year or so.. Im trying my best to avoid health issues and cancers in my family and pets... Im trying to keep fit and bouncy and full of energy.... I know I have gone on a lot in this post but decided I should share my thoughts and reasons for our way of life... THIS MENTIONS NOTHING... of.. my thoughts on avoiding plastics in food containers... chemicals in shampoos, toiletries etc... our skin is our largest organ.. think twice before you go and slap on some cream or wash in something.... we make all our own lotions and potions.. and use good old fashioned cleaning things round the home.. but i wont go on about this now... xx
