====MY SELECTIONS FOR THE RACING ON SATURDAY====== ================================================== Some pretty decent action on today and if i can brave the weather i may even venture out to my local track here in Taunton who host their first Saturday meeting after a very successful meeting over the festive period inspired them to put on the fixture..Today also sees the return of the awesome Sprinter Sacre but personally its a race where a watching brief it will be for me even though i have he and Twinlight noted.. I will be putting up a win L31 & an e/w L31 too for a little fun with a mixture of noted runners and fancied horses to.. So here are MY OPINIONS on the racing today.. once again, good or bad! great or dire! I will enjoy the racing for what it is, as its my one serious PASSION in life.. ITS JUST AN AWESOME SPORT! :-D ================================================= =========MY WIN LUCKY 31 SELECTIONS========== ============================================= ================================= 12.20 Haydock.. KINGSWELL THEATRE 5/2 ================================= This one caught the eye the last day at Nerwcastle, this one looks to be a very smart novice in my opinion, not only because it hacked up in an ordinary event, it was the manner of the win and the look of the horse that impressed me, this one looks the part and when winning the last day just did everything with ease, this one appears to have serious gears and a high cruising speed too, jumps extremely well in just 2 starts and to me looks to be a SERIOUS NH horse in the making this term and the next and no doubt a future chaser in the making too, has to go well here and is open to any amount of improvement today for its handicap debut and looks to be nicely treated here.. ============================================= ======================== 1.05 Taunton.. PADGE 11/10 ======================== This one fetched £160,000 at auction having beaten subsequent Albert Bartlett winner Very Wood on his sole outing in points, and he shaped well for a long way on his Rules debut in a bumper at Uttoxeter, this one looks to have been found a good opportunity here to get of the mark and repay a little of that price tag before going onto much better things, this one has not been rushed and the races for this one have been selected with education in mind in my opinion, but today i feel its the day to catch this one. ============================================ ====================== 1.30 Haydock.. ASO 11/4 ====================== I liked the way this one won at my local track here in Taunton the last day, this track here is idiosyncratic and can catch many a horse out here and represents a different kind of test for plenty of horses, sharp and turning and when its testing it takes some getting too, although this one looked all out to win and struggled in the latter stages there to scrape home by a short margin i felt this one had plenty more to come and that track did not suit well at all, back on a much more conventional/galloping track will see this one go with much more zest i feel and has plenty more to come this term. ============================================ ================================ 2.35 Lingfield.. MELVIN THE GRATE 13/8 ================================ This horse has caught my eye of late and has been improving at a very good rate of late, this one is often held up off the pace and comes with a wet sail in the final furlong to win in the final 100yrds, its difficult for the handicapper to assess this one full as this one does not win bytoo far on each of its runs, winning again with plenty in hand the last day and could have yet again won by much further than the 2l victory here, but only up 7lbs for that looks very lenient to me and can continue its winning ways here. ============================================= ====================== 3.05 Naas.. FRONTLINE 15/8 ====================== This one won very easily on handicap debut the last day, and looked to win with any amount in hand there even after making a serious error and being headed on the run for home, but this one got back up to win quite cosily that day and the way this one traveled through the race and looked the winner form some way out speaks volumes to me and the 8lb rise should not stop this one winning again here as this one certainly looks ahead of the game here.. ============================================= =========MY E/W LUCKY 31 SELECTIONS========== ============================================= =============================== 1.50 Ascot.. MISCHIEVOUS MILLY 11/2 =============================== Noted last term, and one i have been waiting and looking forward to seeing out over this 3 mile test today, very lightly raced and the connections have been very patient with this one here and hopefully today will be the day for their patience to be rewarded, this one to me has been crying out for a step up in trip and this long slog up the home straight here at Ascot can see this one come into his own today in my opinion, having raced mainly over 2m3-2m5f this ones stamina has not yet been truly tested and to me this one is all about `staying` and certainly deserves its place in this hot contest, a little in the ratings to find but hopefully we will see the true animal today with everything looking in its favour.. ============================================ ============================ 3.15 Haydock.. CORRIN WOOD 6/1 ============================ This horse was given to me by my man at the beginning of last season as one to follow in chases, and no disappointments there winning 3 on the bounce, he told me this one loves the soft/heavy going and is a proper staying chaser in the making, a very good effort from the front the last day off top weight in going that would have been too quick for him, this extreme test with the going as it is today can see this one running another mighty race in my opinion and those 2 runs should have put this stout stayer spot on for the race today, not too much room for any errors as this one can sometimes put in the odd sloppy jump, but the last day saw this one jump really well so i hope this one can grind it out again from the front as there is certainly more to come from this one this season even from its lofty mark of 146 when conditions suit.. ================================================ ========================== 3.35 Ascot.. BALLINVARRIG 13/2 ========================== Noted last term and a horse i am following over fences this term, this one looks every inch a chaser and one that will improve as the season goes on in my opinion, a great effort the last day at Kempton and the 7lb rise looks fair to me, a slight drop in trip is of no real concern for this course winner as this one has looked good over a variety of trips from 2m3f-3miles, 2m5f looks ideal as the 3mile trip look to be just about its limit after traveling really well the last day 3f out but just started to feel it in the final furlong, very progressive looking and still open to plenty of improvement this season and looks to have every chance here of going well today. =============================================== ========================== 3.10 Lingfield.. THATABOY 7/1 ========================== Noted 2 runs back where running a fine race over this C&D to finish 2nd that day, the form of the race has been franked since too, forget its last run over 5f at Wolvs as that did not suit this one that day as 6f is this ones trip, a return here to Lingfield over 6f off the same mark as when noting can see a decent effort in my opinion with the useful Eoin Walsh taking off a valuable 5lbs too, well drawn, likes it here, in goods form of late, all points to a decent run today.. =============================================== ============================= 3.55 Taunton.. SUPER SAM 11/2 ============================= This Stoutly-bred gelding has to be of interest here on handicap debut, as this 3miles today will hopefully be the making of this one, this one has been running well behind some very useful types over trips too short in my opinion, lightly raced, and open to a decent level of improvement today upped in trip to 3miles+ for the first time, trainer in form, does well here too at this course.. =============================================== So here are my opinions on the racing today... A little bit different today, but its good to mix it up and refresh now and then... MY BETS are placed!
