MY SHEPHERD Most of our lives are devoted to trying to figure out how we are going to do what we do next. Wouldn’t it be nice if we could just have some kind of a magic wand that we could wave whenever we had a problem and then the problem would go away? Even if we did, most of us would reject it as being to easy. We’d probably say “well, there’s just got to be more to it than that.” After Adam failed and was removed from the Garden of Eden you would think that he would do everything in his power to try to get back to where he was before the failure. We were created in the image of God but since the original failure man has done everything possible to be wrong. We work at being wrong when true success is free and with no cost. Jeremiah 10:23 states that it is not in man to direct his steps. The Bible clearly says that the steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord. Well then, how can I be good? YOU CAN’T! Jesus said there is none good but God. That’s a pretty simple solution. Just take my ZERO (0) and add it to `God’ and you’ve got good. All the promises of God `in him’ are yes. All mans difficulties start with man, end with man and reside in man. In Eden it was all blessing and no work – after Eden it was all work and no blessing. Why do we insist on doing wrong when we know, from the beginning, that it will cause us harm? It’s because we are trying to re-build Eden. The apostle Paul said “having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh? Adam lost his deed in Eden but Jesus has offered to restore it. Living in the plan of God in absolute obedience decrees restoration. Everything Adam had and lost you can have -- or lose. MY SHEPHERD Psalm 23:1 – The Lord is my Sheppard I shall not want. The lord is my guide, he gently leads From his sufficient supply I will feed I reject all other sources, I have no need His promised assurance becomes my deed He tells me to rest in the land of plenty He says to partake of what he has sent me He reminds me that he is the Holy Father As I drink from the springs of purest water My desperate condition he sees and repairs His path is pure he eases my every care His presence is perfection, I need nothing more Throughout eternity I will praise him for he is Lord Hard times will come, I know this for sure To overcome is his guarantee, I shall endure When times grow dark and I face fear I remember that faith comes by what I hear He leads, but he walks beside me arm in arm I am surrounded by danger and possible harm Each step I take I find something new to learn I cannot fail though perils are at every turn His lessons are structured as I hold his gentle hand He reminds me that if I walk I must first learn to stand Though I stumble he prompts me to lean on him and rely He sees my every need; I am the apple of his eye R.L.
