MY SPECIAL FACEBOOK ADDRESS I AM NOW AN AUTHOR OF TWO PROFESSIONAL BOOKS. Fire Service in Nigeria is moving beyond our imaginations and a lot of exploitations are still needed to be done so as to make the service better. Let us go there!!!!!! Finally, it came to fulfilment. 5th December 2014, marks the birth of the two books on the subject of fire in Nigeria, entitled: Rudiments of Fire Fighting, Safety and Prevention which contains twelve (12) chapters of 348 pages and Fire Safety for Children: A Guide which contains eight (8) chapters of 49 pages in Awka, the capital city of Anambra State, Nigeria, during the book presentation/launching. Above all, I want at this juncture, to give special honour and glory to the Almighty God; the Maker and Finisher of all things. He is, indeed, my great Inspirer. In absentia, I want to register my deep appreciation to my late father, Comrade Ferdinand Mbonu Agbili, who brought me into this world and the late Sir Moses Umeadi Ezekwo, former Director of Fire Service, Anambra State, who brought me into the State Fire Service. But regrettably, they never lived to witness this epoch making event of my life’s achievement. I have been guided by their memories throughout my struggle for knowledge and academic achievements. That’s why I attribute this great feat to them. In the course of preparing these textbooks, I enjoyed both moral and financial assistance from many individuals and institutions. I also appreciate the efforts of different people who have contributed to the writing, reviewing and publishing of these books. I will ever remain grateful for your motivation and support. You will continue to be my mentors and role models. I pledge to continue to make you people proud. Let me also use this medium to publicly appreciate my dearly beloved and amiable wife, Chiamaka (Omaricha-Agility), who stood solidly behind me; encouraging me especially throughout the period of my long perpetual pilgrimage into research and findings in some parts of the country. May God keep you for me. To all my children, siblings, lovely and caring mother and my mother in-law, who bore with me on my forceful leave to my library; denying them of the fatherly care and affections in the course of writing these books. I indeed owe an unpayable debt of goodwill to you all. My able editors, Chinonso Okolo and Prof Joy Eyisi, you also deserve my unreserved gratitude. Despite their tight schedules they still drafted time to read carefully, all the drafts and the final copy of this work. Their comments, suggestions and clarifications were indeed, quite helpful in these books. Special thanks go to my colleagues in Anambra State Fire Service, and all firefighters in Nigeria for their moral support and encouragements. I will not also forget all, the Controller General of Federal Fire Service, Controller of FCT Fire Service, General Manager, Aerodrome Rescue and Fire Fighting Service, Federal Airport Authority (FAAN) and State Fire Service Directors from different states of the federation; you have assisted me in different capacities. I am also saluting the Firemen Welfare Association of Nigeria (FMWAN). All my friends, I thank you all for your encouraging words and supports. These books are primarily prepared to help and be a valuable companion for Firefighters, Rescuers and Safety Professionals, Military and Paramilitary bodies, Academic, undergraduates and postgraduates of Engineering, environmental Sciences and Natural Sciences in Colleges of Education, Polytechnics and Universities. Students in Primary and Secondary Schools, Companies, Government Offices, NEMA, SEMA, Business Firms, Factories, Industries, Professionals, Parents, Children and Independent Researchers will also find these books invaluable. The gratitude of a gentleman consists in two short words, ‘Thank You’ for he knows that where the heart is full, words are few. God bless you all. MARTIN AGBILI (AGILITY) 2348033867479
