MY VISIT TO DAULAT BAG CHINA BORDER. In 1986 I was posted to Air Maintenance Battalion and our task is to feed troops located at Daulat Geg. ( the post name and troops name not disclosed due to Secrecy) There was a Tec problem faced by Troops who depend on our Air Drops of food. My task to observe the Air craft from Ground and the Drop. I stayed for 10 days and completed the Mission. To Go to that place via Base camp by foot for 4 days ie one curve mountain name is 36 mode(they call Chatis Mode.) there is no proper route and one person or one Horse/ Muel track. This Track known as SILK ROUTE WHERE MR DOULAT BAG is to trade India and China. In route seen many skeletons of Horse and Camels. Any one falls on this hilly Route no chance of recovery and that is the end of his life. I have to cross the River Chip Chip as shown in the Map and we use to sit on Muel to cross the current is fast but the Muel well trained swim. There is one abandoned Heli copter unable to revocer by Air Force during 1962 India China war The Rotter of Chopper have to be kept stated failing with it will never start due to No Oxygen and sever cold. No civil populating their. My visit was in summer. I waked on Frozen River , what a adventure trip it was. I was the Second Officer of ASC could come back alive. The First ASC Offiece Lt Z B Patail Died at post due to Bukari Bust in Tent.I was well appreciated by Brig Nongeyal Commander of Glacier Troops One of the toff est Brig of that time.He had incinerated for award but my Core BN commanding Office not liked.Because my report was against him in my Mission report, due to Fault Packing of Para. My un biased report was accepted by The Northern Command HQ. It is On Record. . So friend it is nice to know the Chinese troops will be withdrawing on 30 Sept 2014. Thanks to our PM. Friends to share.
