Ma Lanas nightly Feed The Team from Penrith Church of Christ had another great night under the bridge serving with Mama Lanas Community Foundation. We were expecting it to be a quiet night after the huge storm that hit Penrith in the late afternoon, but 48 patrons came along for a meal and a chat. We brought along our mobile hospitality trailer and barbecued steaks, sausages and onions. I dont know any Aussie who doesnt enjoy the smell of steaks and snags on the barbie, and this proved to be true when the local garbage truck driver decided to make an unscheduled stop and sample our menu! The patrons were also treated to potato salad, fried noodles, zucchini slice and garden salad. Dessert was fruit salad and custard and an array of cakes and donuts. Once again, our thanks goes to Emu Plains Donut King and Blackwell Public School for their ongoing support. Patrons were also invited to take home some fruit and sandwiches. There were a number of new faces tonight and they were warmly welcomed by the regular patrons. Mr I gave all the ladies a white rose (Im thinking someones garden might be a few roses short in the morning!!!) but we appreciated the thought behind the gift. Mr J showed the team some photos of a few of his woodwork creations - he is a super talented guy! Mr P kept the crowd entertained with his jokes and added to the fun. The Vinnies van arrived with hot beverages to round off the night. The patrons were really thoughtful - helping to pack up and ensuring the rubbish was properly disposed of. As we were walking to our cars a few of the patrons made a special effort to come over and thank us for the meal and that made the night just perfect! Wednesday nights really are the best night of the week! I heard a great quote during the week - your kindness might be someone elses miracle. I guess that typifies the work of Mama Lanas Community Foundation. Have a great rest of the week - and dont forget to drop into Melrose Hall on Saturday for the MLCF Garage sale!
