Macedonian Dramaturgy Dejan Dukovski (1969) is probably the most productive and the most “exported” among the latest generation of Macedonian play writers. His play “Bure Barut” (Powder Keg, 1994) has been translated in many languages and has been staged in theaters all over Europe. It also served as a base for the screenplay of Goran Paskljevic’s movie “Cabaret Balkan” (1998), screened and awarded at European and international film festivals. The movie won European Film Awards FIPRESCI Prize (1998), Ghent International Film Festival’s Special Mention, Haifa International Film Festival’s Golden Anchor Award (1998), USA National Board of Review’s NBR Award and money others. Dukovski’s plays merge in a unique way the past and the present to contemplate on the universal values and temptations of the humanity. Dejan Dukovski (1969).
