Macedonians were forced to believe they have never had anything to do with Bulgarian people, Bulgaria: professor 3 July 2014 | 17:16 | FOCUS News Agency Sofia. ”Macedonians were forced to believe they have never had anything to do with Bulgarian people and Bulgaria, as well as they were constantly occupied in the course of centuries and thanks to fighting for a long time against the Bulgarian occupiers and with the aid of the sister Yugoslav peoples they were freed in 1944,” said Professor Bozhidar Dimitrov, Director of the National Museum of History, speaking for FOCUS News Agency. ”It is just that one [of them] does not exist – the Macedonian people. These people who live in Vardar [Macedonia] historically were part of the Bulgarian people from 680 and 1944 and shared the history and destiny of the Bulgarian nation. In 1944 they were taken from Bulgaria in a forceful way and were declared in a more forceful way a nation called Macedonian, after the geographical name of the territory they were living in. A literary language was created for them with the speed of lightning as they did not have one by that time and used the Bulgarian one,” the professor explained. In his words, the same way a history, recently enriched with the so-called ancient theory, was invented. According to the scientist, if some 10 years ago the Macedonians descended from some particular Slavs, different from the Bulgarian ones, nowadays they are considered descendants of the ancient Macedonians, like Alexander the Great and [his father] Philip, which in Professor Dimitrov’s words, are considered by the whole world science Greek rulers.
