Mackenzie was rescued by All 4 Paws Animal Rescue after being turned in to a County Animal Shelter Facility. She was brought in very injured and the owner claimed that it was a snake bite that he himself tried to cut the infection out of her face. The Executive Director received her photo through Facebook and decided that Mackenzie was her mission. Mackenzie was immediately pulled and placed on transport to All 4 Paws in Pawleys Island, South Carolina. The brutal truth of Mackenzie’s abuse was brought to light by the amazing surgeon Dr. Berger of the Animal Hospital and Laser Center of South Carolina. Mackenzie was shot close range with a shot gun to the face multiple times. She should have never survived these injuries but we believe that she did because her life has a purpose. She has 100′s of buckshot in her head. The forensic evidence supports that Mackenzie was shot point blank in the left side of her face, again to the back of her hear at about 10 feet away and again a third time to the right side of her face at 20 feet away. Mackenzie was running for her life away from her abuser. Her injuries were two weeks old. She was left to suffer for weeks before she received any type of actual medical care. Mackenzie arrived close to death. She was starved, had extremely low blood pressure, was totally anemic, had a severe piometra (infected uterus), shattered jaw and a mutilated face. Mackenzie has permanently lost sight in her left eye due to the injuries. With multiple surgeries Mackenzie will be right as rain. We are in desperate need for donations to cover the extensive cost of medical bills that will save her life. Mackenzie has an amazing attitude and is just happy to be alive and loved, her tail never stops wagging and she loves to give kisses! Mackenzie is the face of unconditional love and compassion.
