Macomb Daily News 9/9/13: On Monday night in a Macomb Area Conference Blue Division game between the Dakota Cougars and Warren-Mott, the Cougars came to play, defeating the Marauders, 2-1. Pasquale Madonna’s goal with 14:34 remaining in the second half was the difference. Madonna battled through Warren-Mott’s defense, never giving up on the ball and seeing it sail into the net. This came just three minutes after the Marauders scored their only goal. The only scoring in the first half was a goal by Cameron Cooney to put the Cougars up with 29 minutes left in the half. Dakota’s coach Stefano Moraccini said that his team “had a lot of positives in the game, we played as a team and never gave up.” The coach also added that “if you are behind in the game, it’s always hard coming back.” The game was far from perfect. At halftime, Moraccini told his team “to spread the ball around the field more, and make sure to use the outsides.” On the defensive side of the ball, Alex Bozinovski moved from right outside halfback to the sweeper position and did a solid job. Drew Jacobs and Andrew Love also stepped up and did a great job defending Warren-Mott. Warren-Mott (2-3, 1-1) host Port Huron Northern, and Dakota (4-1,2-0) plays at Sterling Heights on Wednesday.
