Macon Police Department Good News of the Day Thursday, August 29, 2013 See Photos Macon Police Chief Mike Carswell, Major Tonnie Williams and several MPD officers attended the Street to Success event at the Heritage at Houston Methodist Church at the corner of Houston Avenue and Rocky Creek Road on Wednesday evening, August 28. The event, spearheaded by Ray Rover was the culmination of the renovation of the gymnasium and a kick-off to the 2013-14 school year. Local children were joined by Brigadier General Cedric George of the Warner Robins Air Logistics Complex, Macon Mayor Robert Reichert, Charles Richardson of The Telegraph, and a number of other community leaders for the festivities. Macon’s Downtown Rotary Club and Central Georgia Tech are sponsors of the program, and along with the Mercer University Lady Bears Basketball Team and Wesleyan College Disciples, provide tutoring and mentoring for the children enrolled in the program.
