Madagascar Kleuterskool/Nursery School was started by owner, Willie Steenkamp, in 2009 after not being able to find a suitable school for his then two-year-old granddaughter. His goal was to create a nurturing environment in which children are given the same amount of love and stimulation they receive at home. In late 2012 Chantelle Geyer was appointed as principal of the school. She holds a Bachelors, Honours, and Masters degree from the highly acclaimed University of Denver in Colorado, U.S.A. During her studies she worked at the prestigious Auraria Early Learning Center where she gained valuable experience in pre-school management working under the strict QualiStar Rating system. Her passion and energy has since transformed the school into one of the best in the East Rand. Madagascar Kleuterskool/Nursery School is a bi-lingual school open Monday – Friday from 06:00 – 18:00 and accepts children aged 0 – 5 years. The school follows a set, nutritional menu which changes monthly and alternates weekly. Breakfast, lunch, a morning and afternoon snack, as well as juice are included in school fees. The school currently has four classes with a low teacher to child ratio. All classes follow the CAPS curriculum and formal evaluations are completed twice per year. The curriculum is tailored around the theme of the week and sent home on Mondays to keep parents involved in their child’s development. All learning is done in an informal, fun environment in order to keep children engaged and excited about learning new things. Monkeynastix, Dance Mouse, Kindermusik and Audiblox are offered as extramural activities during regular school hours in the assembly hall.
