Made it to Adelaide this morning, pant pant, after a second consecutive day of the 4:30am wake-up call followed by a clumsy muster in the lobby at 5 and off in the cab-covered dark to another airport- this one Melbournes after a great night at MonsterFest & another screening of Charlies Farm. 7am flight on Qantas from Melbie to beautiful Adelaide, arrived at our hotel by 9:30 only to be told that our rooms wouldnt be ready until noon. What to do in Adelaide when youre dead tired, hungry, irritable, (mentally) lost? Get outside and look for exotic birds, of course! Good thing I brought my Nikon binocks. Man, the trees are singin in the sun with Little Corellas, crested doves, conures & I could swear I saw a flock of black cockatoos winging by. The natives here dont even look twice- these are some of their regular birds, mate- so my hopping up & down marked me for a Yank, and a bird-brained one at that. Here 3 days (thanks God!) for the Supanova Expo which runs Saturday/Sunday. Therell be another screening of Charlies Farm, 2 days of signing & selling my merch at Supanova (please no machetes or smoking chainsaws in my line!) and plenty of time to throw myself into the hotel pools ( apparently there are two here). Thanks, Melbourne, for just being you, and a special thanks to the horror fans who turned out enthusiastically last night to kick off 12 days of MonsterFest with a throaty, dare I say lusty enjoyment of our little Aussie slasher flick. Met the Soska twins, saw old pal Ashley C. Williams from (my fave) Human Centipede and Dom Franklins The Church, and generally had a ball once I came down from an ill-advised double expresso. Zumas this morning for an excellent brekkie at the Adelaide fruit & veggie market, and now Im ready for a nap!
