V V S Sarma - Gita Bhashyam There is some truth in what all you said but it is not the whole truth. I can summarize my feelings in the following 1. The ills of congress are inherited from pre-independence days. Gandhi was not democratic neither was Nehru. The drove away talent and encouraged mediocrity. Jinnah was smarter than both of them. Ambedkar was a better scholar than both of them. 2. Nehru wrote Discovery of India. He just did not understand it from Indian outlook. He simply read western (Cambridge & Oxford) versions of Indian history and believed it. He has no idea of the Hinduism and he believed like the entire Bengal renaissance figures that Hinduism is a dead religion with meaningless superstitions. He goofed even in the choice of National anthe. 3. Nehru believed Chinese communists, tried to teach Buddhist Panch Sheela to them and sacrificed India’s historical role in Tibet. He messed up Kashmir problem claiming he was a Kashmiri, He did not touch Ayodhya problem while Patel solved Somnath and Hyderabad problems almost against his inclinations. Nehru’s premiership during 1952-64 was a period of wasted opportunities. China and Kashmir are his monumental follies. 4. Lal Bahadur had too little time of 2 years with an intervening war in 1965 after the 1962 debacle. 5. Indira Gandhi’s Bangladesh policy and dividing Pak into two enemies was unavoidable. The breakup of Pak was inevitable. But I think Simla pact was her greatest stupidity. Believing Pak will uphold pacts is like Prithviraj allowing Mohammad Ghuari to leave instead of Killing him. 6. I do not believe in foreign hand and cross border terrorism. It is the home grown version that is much more dangerous. Pak cannot do anything unless there is a support network of Indian traitors. Action is woefully lacking. 7. In fact, among Nehru, Indira, Rajiv, Sonia, Rahul … I really feel Rajiv is the most honest of all. His Bofors debacle showed his sheer inexperience and trusting people like VP Singh, who is the worst PM any country can have at any time. 8. PVN proved that a Brahmin cannot be a king it needs a Kshatriya, Brahmin can only be an advisor – mantri. He showed his loyalty to Gandhi family and not to India and paid for it. 9. Man Mohan – He is just called a PM. The real player is behind. An MP not in government is the de facto PM and a person who can never be elected to Lok Sabha is the nominated PM. No wonder the country is moving rapidly down the hill.
