Madonna is all over social media again for donning a niqab. There are two things to consider here: 1. This is clearly an attention seeking antic – just like the last niqab selfie and her need to strip naked to sell tour tickets. This only highlights the desperate measures female celebrities need to take to stay ‘relevant’ when they are well past their prime (according to capitalism). 2. Of all the ways to get attention, why resort to using the dress of Muslim women and specifically a niqab with bars? It doesn’t take a genius to realise that the image of the Muslim woman has been used time and time again by the West in order to further their propaganda for the war on terror. When will these people understand that their false narrative doesn’t wash with us? If anything women like Madonna need saving. How depressing must it be to think that you’re only value as a woman is your physical appearance?
