Mae Desadier passed away Saturday November 9, 2013 at the age of 86. Mae Neva Bynog Desadier was born in Emmanuel Community on April 20,1927 and was one of seven children born to William & Marie Bynog. She graduated at the top of her class from Cloutierville High School and attended Houston Business College. She married Ross Desadier on June 7, 1951. She is preceded in death by her husband Ross Desadier, her parents, William & Marie Bynog and her siblings, Donald Bynog, Carrie Rachal, Gertrude Akins, Sam Bynog, Ruth Pardee and Lank Bynog and grandson, Chad Desadier. Mae worked at the A&P Food Store as a bookkeeper for many years. She enjoyed traveling and loved to visit her son Ross while he was stationed at various Marine Corps Bases and her daughter Angie Colwell when her husband was stationed at numerous Army posts. She loved sightseeing and visited a host of Catholic churches during her travels. She thoroughly enjoyed reading, playing cards, working crossword puzzles, and telling jokes. She enjoyed watching golf on TV though she never played a round in her life! In her later years she relocated to Garnette Gardens Assisted Living in Redwood Falls, MN, where she was affectionately known to all as the “joke lady”, to be near her daughter, Angie & her family. While there she loved to attend jewelry making classes and made many necklaces & bracelets for those she loved. She looked forward to chatting on the phone with her sisters-in-law weekly while in Minnesota and sharing with them the enjoyment she got out of watching it snow during the long cold winters. Living the winters in Minnesota was a new experience for this Louisiana Girl! She was always amazed to find those whom she met at Garnette Gardens to say to her that she “talked funny”. She used to say, “ya’ll are the ones who talk funny.” Mae was a devout Catholic and carried a beautiful blue rosary which had been a gift from her husband Ross, while they were dating in the 1940’s. She had lost this rosary on many occasions, but it always seemed to make it back to her. The most recent time was on her trip back to Louisiana this past August. While staying overnight in Perry, OK she forgot the rosary in the hotel room. When her daughter phoned to ask if the rosary had been found she was told yes. They said they would be happy to mail the rosary, and when confirming the address found it to be the wrong address. Needless to say this rosary was never meant to be lost. Those left to cherish her memory are her children: Angie Colwell and husband Carl, of Morton, MN, Julie Desadier of Shreveport, LA, and Ross Desadier and wife Bobbie of Natchitoches, LA; grandchildren, Charis Glover and husband Andy of Bend, OR, Jordan Desadier and wife Brittany of Terrebonne, OR, Karin Colwell and Mikala Colwell, both of Morton, MN; great grandson, Tavin Desadier; brothers & sisters-in-law, Thomas & M.L. Desadier of League City, TX, Raymond & Lee Desadier of Houston, TX, Sis Durr of Natchitoches, LA and Ann Bynog of Tioga, LA. Mae also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. The family would like to express our sincere gratitude to Mrs. Sue Sklar who brought communion to Mother each Thursday during her brief stay in Natchitoches Community Care Center and for arranging for Father Ryan Humphries to administer the Apostolic Pardon on the evening of her passing. Though her time at NCCC was short the family knows the staff did all they could to make her as comfortable as possible. We would also like to thank Chelsea, Lisa and Margaret at Garnette Gardens, who gave Mother such wonderful care during her five years as a resident there. She loved these ladies and always spoke so highly of them. Mae’s wish was to have her body donated to science in hope of helping mankind in some small way. A memorial service and burial will be held at a later date. Mae will be greatly missed by her children, grandchildren and extended family.
