Maharashtra Government has today introduced Strict Rules and Regulations Regarding Conduct of the One Day Treks / Overnight Treks / Mountaineering Expeditions And Other Adventure Activities. It address this notification to all stakeholders including all countrys leading institutes conducting such activities but unfortunate has missed addressing it to any of the organisations/ groups and individuals that r having their office in rest of India and r conducting such programs in Himalayas. These groups or individuals advertisements r visible on internet and many participant from Maharashtra join their adventure activities seeing their advertisement on net and at times suffer casualty. It is unfortunate that this guidelines r result of one such casualty happened in 2006 and the deceased parents had filed a PIL in 2012 in HC asking for a order to Maharashtra govt. to prepare guidelines but Maharashtra govt. has failed to address the core issue of specifically addressing this guidelines to such organisations. It is unfortunate that suggestions / objections to this guidelines were invited but no one on fb shared this information date, though i had personally taken the liberty to write on 23rd July 2013, a few inputs to CM on the issue. Just a fortnight back a participant from Calcutta lost his life on Roopkund trek organised by India Hikes. Hope this guidelines could help in restricting future casualties.
