Maid falls to her death in Umm Al Quwain Staff Report Published: Aug 29, 2013, 16:59 Sharjah: A 28-year-old maid fell to her death from the ninth floor of a building in Umm Al Quwain while trying to escape from her employer’s apartment. A police investigation showed that the Asian maid, S.S, was trying to escape by descending the apartment’s balcony to the eighth floor using a rope made of pieces of cloth she had tied together. She lost her grip and fell onto a parked car. The police operations room was notified of the incident at 2pm on August 28, when they received information that a woman had fallen from a building in Umm Al Quwain, said Major Dr Saif Salem, director of Al Salama Police Station. Ambulances and rescue teams were at the scene soon after where they pronounced her dead. Her body was taken to Umm Al Quwain Hospital. Police have not yet determined the reason behind the maid’s attempt to escape. The case has been referred to the Public Prosecutor for further investigations.
