Main Points from Wednesday Nights meeting: -Firstly it was all agreed that we were there because we wanted to establish a stand alone secondary school. -Feedback from the last Grúpa Meithil/ Working Group meeting was given. At that meeting Comhairle na Gaelscolaíochta (CnaG) had confirmed that it is their role to assist parent groups looking to set up Irish Medium Secondary schools as indicated by the Minister for Education in his recent response to a report on Irish Medium Secondary Education. -Disappointment was expressed that four years on, what the parents had asked for in the original consultation had not been delivered. It was felt that only parents themselves had the will to make that happen as it was their childrens education that was at stake. There will be no turning back and we are going to follow that through -Parents would be encouraged to attend the CnaG public meeting on Irish Medium in the Maldron Hotel Monday 15th December -A Parents Committee will be set up as soon as possible -A number of events that will raise the campaigns profile, allow as much participation as possible from parents and engage new parents will be organised by the committee. All suggestions welcome. -A name for the new school and a uniform will be chosen -There was a discussion on the issue of accomodation. A number of possibilities were mentioned, others will have to be investigated -A statement should be released outlining the parents demands as expressed at this meeting -Appropriate people will be approached to draw up a Development Proposal that reflects the wishes of the parents -There will be another Fóram Tuistí/ Parents Forum meeting in January to give others the opportunity to come on board. The Coiste (committee) will report back and be answerable to the Fóram which any parent can attend.
